XJ steering shaft...

well, got the xj shaft but it surely won't fit on my 79K10...The steering column end is totally different. I guess this only works on K5's and Jimmies. Oh well, I guess I'll have to remove the plastic rivets on my original shaft to extend it after I put in the body lift...we'll see how it goes.

Your steering column is not a Double D? What kind of shaft do you have coming out of the column? If it is splined find another XJ shaft and change the ends out.

no double D on my trucks column end. It is splined and round but didn't bother to take it apart since I noticed the xj shaft would not fit from just looking at it...what exactly do you mean by changing the ends out? which ends are you talking about??

Get another XJ shaft and take the splined end off by taking apart the Ujoint and swap it with the Double D ujoint on the shaft you tried to put in. That way you will have a splined Ujoint on both ends.:D

orale vato...got you now. Aight then, now I'm on a mission to finding another xj shaft...I really don't want to use that damn rag joint so I'll try some fabricating if I have to. Thanx Ira.
