i'm trying to buy a hub socket for my 60, but its at my shop about 40min away right now so i can't just look at it. what year did they switch to/from 4 prong to/from 6 prong? my axle is a '78.

thanks guys.

other way around. started 6 prong and went 4.

first few years till around 80 or 81 had 6 prong.

So are you saying I can expect to find a 4 prong in my 83 D60? My next project is throwing in the new 35 spline stubs and hubs. Need to be prepared

yes, 1983 axle will be 4 prong...

prolly not helpful but my '85 D60 is 4 prong and my '78 14b is 6 prong, or at least used to be 6 :)

14 bolts are all 6 prong.

and its a round corner 6 unlike the dana 60 square cut prong .

but i use my 6 prong 60 socket on 14 bolt all the time as i took a file and rounded the corners. :thumb:

and fyi yes same spindle nut sizes on both 14 bolt and 60 . you can add the front 60 spindle nut setup to rear if you wish.

That I didn't know. I just might do that.

X2

Plus you can run the 1 big thick nut from a 14 bolt on a 60 front as well, I have for over 20 years now, I run them on all my 60's, 1 nut and square stock key way, snap ring, I think somewhere around 1980 or so and later all 14 bolts went to the 1 nut design....
