meant to put this in lounge. too many beers...

Doesnt look to horrible. Front driveline is at the wrong angle

i would just ditch those spacers fora block and a 2" square tube to spread the load over the frame.. sounds ghetto but safer then what he has

just like i did with mine.. it aint pretty but it worked well (besides my trial and error on the front Driveline)

my question is, how much lift does this truck actually have?

my question is, how much lift does this truck actually have?

well...it has a dropped pitman AND a raised steering arm. The draglink still isn't straight either so it's probably 6"+ :dunno: That funky shim setup under the funky front leaves :doah:

Looks to be around 6 with 4 inch spring and 2 inch block combo. Can't see the shackle but who knows if that is modded longer as well.

The raised steering arm is usually good for 4" by itself. The dropped pitman arm good for at least 2", so I don't see how this can be lifted less than 8". It looks like about a 6" spring (or maybe 4" springs with add-a-leafs up in the middle?), with maybe 2" of block/shim/junk under it. The listing claims 6", but that is probably just the height of the lift kit that was put in.

I wonder how the HEI stays out of the firewall with the T-case dropped that far. He probably kept lowering it trying to fix the driveline vibrations, never realizing that he was just setting up the pinion angle wrong. I imagine those monster curved overload leaves eliminate any need for rear fender trimming.

Really, this is a great K5. It just needs about 1 day at the house of a CK5'er to address the issues and be a great run-around rig. Assuming the engine was built OK anyway.

That square tube drop down bracket is a great way to run lines through . Jeez! :haha:

they werent through it, they were behind it in the frame... lol I had few things mocked up cause i didnt have a bed on it at that time, It had wood sheet on the frame. so the battery box and fuel cell was back there...

the rear brake lines were fixed shortly after

but hey, they would be safe at that point in the square tube

I don't understand why guys start dropping the transfercase with lifts less than 10" or so. My k10 had an 8" superlift kit on it and my drivelines were fine front and back without lowering the tc. I had shims to correct pinion angle and a small spacer on the front flange of the transfercase and it rolled out fine with no vibes.

A K10 has a lot longer driveline than a K5...

What's the wheelbase difference? I knew they were shorter but it can't be by much.

K10 shortbed is 117.5 and k5 is 106.5.

I still dont understand dropping the t-case though. Sure it makes your rear driveshaft have a better angle but messes with the angle of everything else.
