yes i searched cant find it whats gears were in 89 k5s with 5.7 lt 700 r4

As title says cant find it anywhere on forum. My truck is a 89k5 was a original 5.7 lt 700 r4 combo silverado model . whats gears did they come factory with. i cant find the info anywhere. all i find is info on 87s

Google search "rpo codes" and get the codes from the sticker in your glovebox. Or, just pull the diff cover and get the numbers.

You could have pulled the cover and checked it yourself in less time it took to post this.

i dont no y i didnt think of this but you can get under the truck with the rear axle jacked up and mark a spot on the yoke and have a buddy spin the tires 1 rotation(make sure u get close as u can to 1 rotation) and u count how many times the driveshaft spins and say it spins a tiny bit over 4 times and the tire spins 1 time, you have 4.10s

FWIW my 89 came with 3.73's and it is a 350/700R4 combo.

my running buddy has same setup 89 k5 350/700r4 he is running 2.56 gears and oldly enough im running 85 k5 305 (blow up friday) 4 speed and also running 2.56 he does good on gas but could use lower gears for more torque.

had a buddy that owned an '87 Burb, his had 3.73's, along with another friends i think 86 blazer with 3.73's.

personally, i think the higher probability in gearing is going to be 3.42's or 3.73's, but the only SURE way is to pull the cover and find out.

2.56 was a car ratio lots of midsize small tired a/g bodies had them , 2.73 was the highest 10 bolt ratio in a truck , and gone by the mid 80's , but don't quote me on that

Most common after the mid 80's were 3.08 , 3.42 , 3.73 in a K5

i think its probobly going to turn out to be 3.08 since i had the exact same setup and same year blazer and it came with 3.08

yeah my 89 was originally 350/700/241 w/3.08
