Yet another gov-loc question

The govlock in my 12 bolt was pristine when I got it. It locked up when it should on the street with 40s and a 465. It didn't lock up when I wanted it to offroad though (took more wheelspin than a 465/208 could spin in low range first gear). So, my friend welded it up for me. We both decided there was more than adequate weld in there. I broke all the welds out and a large part of the C-block between the side gears while pulling a friend out. The gov-lock continued to work even though it had been welded and large chunks were going through the ring and pinion and punching holes in my differential cover.

I've since cut out all the govlock stuff out of the carrier so it could be welded a lot better. Hopefully it'll hold up.

The worst part is that govlocks in worse shape than what mine was are going for $100 on eBay.

14FF govlocks are huge in comparison. I've got one of them also.

my gov lok would lock up on the street and randomly lock when i really needed it.finally busted the spiders gears so was an excuse for a detroit..

Thanks

Well I guess 14FF gov-loc blow just like 10/12 variety. I guess I will just save and put a detroit in later. One wheel wonder here I come :haha: :haha: :haha: .

The one legger is always a show stopper when it comes to pro dragster style burn outs, you know, the kind at night where the street lights look like white Christmas trees and anyone with a swamp cooler on there home needs to repaint their walls :D
