I went and looked it this truck today. I really like it alot.
454/400/205 60/14 with 373s open diffs. 130k on the truck. window motors are slow and the headliner is missing. the previous previous owner(who did all the dumb crap to it) put a light on top and it didnt seal very well so it leaked into the cab. top of the doors on the cab have some rust. but none anywhere else. the current owner has just driven it around town and on the ranch for the last six years.
ive got a good idea of an end goal but its gonna take alot of work to get there.

i plan on wheeling this truck, mostly mud but id like to get in to some mild rocks just to feel it out.

im pretty set on buying it but he wants 3700 and is very firm on the price. im fairly cool with that price. less than i paid for my stock K5 when i got it several years ago.

a couple questions ive got is whats the ideal tire size for 4.56? cucv axles will probably find their way under here just because of the cost of them vs regearing and detroiting these. i really like the 6-7 inch with 38s-40s look, would that size tire put me in the pocket for the highway cruising rpms of the 454 ?

H1 beadlocks with boggers for offroad and maybe some steelies with the michelin 11r16s for on road. again 4.56 too much?

first, is this a drw hub for the 60 or just some aftermarket spacer? i thought the drw hubs had 8 little ears all over it. this truck started life as an srw truck.

what the hell is all this emissions crap? its an 86 and it has a serp style and vbelt setup? id like to eliminate all of it and get an older qjet and some nice headers eventually, will losing all that crap make me have to get new pulleys and accessories?

nice bent upside down ubolts

heres a really cool flatbed but its welded to the frame as is the big ass front bumper. i planned on putting a srw bed on it but that popped the bubble right there. lots of work getting that off the frame. also they cut the rear frame horns about 6 inches after the shackle hangers.

so it need a good reconditioning but do yall spot anything a noob cant see? what do yall think?

It's hard to see much from that pic, but it looks like spacers on the front to me. I could be wrong though. If it runs and drives well, I'd be willing to spend the asking price on it.
On a side note, the rear u-bolt and shock mount setup looks identical to the 1ton 2WD 14bolt that I pulled today, save for those lower beefy looking brackets.

looks like tires are spaced apart, somehow....1st pic shows hub sticking thru the rim 1-1 1/2''..not much, but idk much about drw's

whats up w/people sittin indian style in front of truck w/you snapping pics?

I believe that's his GF...

Truck looks pretty good... I don't know what your market is like around there though... I would show him $3k and if he doesn't go for it then don't be afraid to walk away...

Don't be afraid of the bed removal either... a torch or air-arc could have that off in a matter of minutes...

As far as gearing goes check out this page... just type in all your stuff and it gives you a pretty accurate idea of where you'll be (with my trucks its always been 200-300 rpm lower than real world rpm).

Skip it and keep looking for something with less issues and SRW. I don't doubt your abilities but it seems like your post was nothing but what was wrong with it...and it's got a decent list.
Also, being that you live in the south/southwest...I'd think you would be able to find something without rust issues.

This is partly why I won't buy a truck originally from up here where I live. Big Ugly has some issues but nothing major. I can build on it and not have to worry about undoing a bunch of crap the previous owner did or mother nature forced on it.

this is the only one that runs and is still mostly complete. i havent been able to find one within 50-75 miles in better condition. generally for a straight one stock theyre upwards of 6k.

I drove mine 400 miles home and had to fly over to get it.

It's all about what you are either willing to do to either get a good condition SRW or fix all the issues with this thing. I look at it and see a lot of work and de-redneckifying before you can get down to actually building the truck you want. Welded on bumper and bed? Who the **** does that? Common...
BTW, is it a dually or a Cab and Chassis truck? A dually would have a Dana 70.

even if you get it for 3k, how much money would you need to through at it to get it restored? It may just abut equal the amount people want for a running stock one. That welded bed looks hairy. Though my technical abilities are limited and im not sure of yours. It does look like alot of work.

Dabba just basically put words to exactly what I've been thinking about it.

i dont want to restore it really, just offroad it and work it. it would take near 10-12 grand to get it really really nice. i like the fact it is a little beat up so i wont feel so bad when i put the dents in it. my k5 has dents only on one side. thats the ugly side lol. the inside will be nice though for the old lady. that would be like 500 bucks for new interior pieces and stuff. less if i am frugal and get stuff locally. the bed doesnt look like too much of a project. a good weekend and a few die grinder wheels i can have a new bed on it. i estimated im going to drop about 500 on general maintenence i want to get done. more preventative than anything.

then last will be the lift, winch, and boggers. that would be pretty expensive.

do it :D

if it is what you have been looking for
