what do you use? has anyone tried liquid Teflon on yoke splines ?

There is a rubber star like “washer” that should be behind the steel washer, it acts as a seal.

Oops sorry, you didn’t specify so I figured it was the tcase. I’ve never heard of that problem on a diff they typically are pointed above level

I have liquid Teflon so used that.

On to ring gear patern now.
I think the pinion needs to go deeper.
Any opinions?

Looks like you first need to measure carrier runout if you're getting different patterns.

I measured backlash at 5 point was .005 and one spot was .004. I think the lower picture only got 2 passes while the top one has 4 or 5.
I have a .023 shim same as old. currently i have 2 shims that equal .021, I can also do .020 .019 and .018.
I am having difficulty deciding what my old pinion says, new pinion is 0. I am sure there is a 1 stamped on old pinion there is another stamped symbol that may be a - but it vertical to the 1.
So since it looks like I need to go deeper with the pinion, I must assume -1 on old. According to Bill Vista i need to subtract .001, would .001 make much difference ? Would .002 be to much?

Ok I am going to change shim on pinion carrier. Can pinion assembly be removed with ring gear carrier installed?
