You are absolutely, positively NOT going to believe this! (But please read)

Dexcool is designed for Aluminum radiators. It is still available and the only thing I can run in the Vette. I am impressed by the stuff - clean system and the vettes run HOTby design.

How old is the engine? Maybe take it to a shop, or if you can find some stuff to do it at home, and have someone flush it with acid. You may have blocked water passages in your block cause restricted flow and making your engine over heat!

You are sounding more and more like what was wrong with my truck, backward intake manifold gaskets. But if the intake wasn't off lately, it isn't it, but if it has, it is something for you to think about. it is a lot of money so don't just go out and have your top end taken apart. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Bowtied, I think you're looking at some head problems.

I've been following this, and I know you've tried just about everything up there, but I still haven't heard if you checked the pump for reversed flow, or verified the thermostat is installed correctly.
Didn't you say you got a brand spankin new clutch? So we can rule that out. You verified the temp reading is accurate, so it really IS overheating. Does the radiator feel the same way the old one did, hot on one side, cool on the other? Maybe you have some compounded problems, and radiator was part of them.

You should check these things ASAP if you haven't already:

1. Thermostat installed right side up (spring side in the intake manifold)
2. Coolant flowing in proper directions (upper hose flowing into radiator, lower hose flowing out)
3. head/head gasket damaged (check coolant and oil for unusual levels and colors/textures

Good luck with the acid deal too!

How is the engine oil level? If your engine burns oil and the level is low, it will also tend to run hot.
