zero rate with lift blocks

i dont trust blocks personnally since mine spit out after a couple of years of using them.on a street truck,it wont be too hard on them,so you should be fine.with six inches of block,you will get a ton of axle wrap though.i think that is why mine spit out on me it broke off the centerpin because of the torque on it.im pretty heavy on the skinny pedal too.haha.zero rate is a 1 inch add a leaf so it will be like having a 1 inch leaf on top of the block.you can also get a zero rate that is already cut with a shim so that it corrects the pinion angle.
 
I think a lot of the issue with blocks is the torque that the lift manufacturers suggest is a lot less than factory spec for the truck. I forget what I torqued mine at(120ft lbs?, whatever was in my manual) and Rancho said 90 :eek1:

A lot of trucks come factory with blocks, if it was common for them to spit they wouldn't.

i dont think ive seen a factory block over 2 inches also.so it wouldnt be as bad as far as axle wrap as on 6 inches of lift block.it puts a hell of a lot of force on the ubolts.

Pretty sure I've seen a few Fords with a 3.5-4 inch factory block.
 
i had 5.5 lift blocks on my 2500hd and my stepside, i just sold the 5.5 lift blocks in the classifieds. a 6inch lift comes with 5.5 blocks for some reason....the u bolts for those are huge... superlift sells em, im not sure of the price tho... a friend of mine has a zero rate and 4 in blocks and has no problem..but the axle rap is fierce...
 
I had 5.5 nch blocks in the rear of my blazer i put 6inch leafs it made a hug diffrience blocks sucks balls
 
Zero rate is an add a leaf though.. I'm currious too.

I don't think zero rates are add a leafs. A zero rate is a 1 inch block and will allow you to offset the axle. An add a leaf is a spring. They are normally bolted on the back half of a spring so they only add extra load carring.

ORD calls them "zero rate" because they are a spring that adds zero rate to your spring pack.

they are not a "spring" but they do bolt to the spring pack, effectively becoming part of the spring itself.

ive been running a zero rate in conjunction with a 2" block on the back of my truck for years now with absolutely no problems
 
They are clearly not a spring, no matter what he calls them. They are block.

Like I said, I don't care what he calls them, they are not a leaf or a spring. Just look at them. It's a solid piece of metal forming a block.

We didn't want to call them blocks because they aren't a true block? Why aren't they a block? Because they bolt to the spring? HUH? Don't get caught up in the marketing of these blocks.

I use them on my Suburban to get rid of the sag. :eek1:
 
It is no different than an overload spring with the ends cut off. It is part of the spring pack.

Ehh, no....
But an overload spring with the ends cut off is no longer a spring.
Is that so hard to understand???
 
I compelety understand what a zero rate is. I have a set on the front of my Suburban. You understand why it isn't a lift block, right?
