I've been looking forward to the time when I can start this thread. :pimp:

Welcome to the build thread for my V3500. :woot:

So I got to drive/see the the truck for the first time last night and today. Other than the totally insane death wobble and the 360°'s of steering wheel rotation before the steering reacts, it rides down the road pretty damn good. Better than I thought at least. 75mph is no problem. It really has good power too...way more than I was expecting, 454 from 93-94 'burb. It definitely has some rough edges that need smoothing though. The the power windows are so slow and weak that I have to help them up and down. I bought a 10 pack of relays and sockets, so I'll be doin the power window mod. There are a few things hangin down under the dash that I can't identify for the life of me. Some un-plugged and un-hooked stuff under the hood. Horn doesn't work. Lots of little stuff like that.

A few pictures I took a couple hours ago-

I also got to open about 30 different UPS boxes full of all the parts and stuff that I ordered, it took close to two hours and felt like Xmas...Stuff from Ballastic Fab, DIY4x, ORD, Summit etc., it was AWESOME!

Anyways, first order of business will be fixing the steering. Ballistic Fab springless x-over arms, bronze bushing's, new ORD tie rod/drag link with new ends. PSC steering box and XJ shaft. Weld on and bolt on steering braces. That stuff will happen in the next few days.

I thought about starting this thread there...but I think while I'm here in Cali building this thing, I'd like to leave it here in the Garage. More traffic. ;)

Nice! Good luck bro, I know your going to be having a lot of fun in the next few weeks!!
What's up with all those tires in the bed? Got to be about 9 back there!

The Michelins will be going on the truck. The other's came with the truck when I bought it...315/75/16 BFG Muds.

A Garage full of new parts
A soldier with a truck thats been on his mind for months...

i got a feeling CK5 is about to see progress at a faster rate than ever before. :saweet:

I'll be following this build. The truck is cool already !!!! Can't wait and show tons of pics!!!

I think I just solved about 50% of my steering issues. I was crawlin around the truck with a flash light just now, taking a closer look at everything. I don't know what possessed me to grab the pitman arm and try to wiggle it, but I did. The steering box was so loose on the frame that it rattled around on it's bolts. :yikes: A good 1/4" of up and down play, and maybe a little less than that in and out. :eek1:

Progress will be the name of the game with this build. Expect almost daily updates with pictures.

See above. :)

Whatcha doing with the BFG's?

I just worked out a deal today to trade the 3 BFG's in the bed and the 4 pro-comps on the truck for mounting and balancing of the Michelins. The bartering system is a great thing. :thumb: I'll still have the front two BFG's. They're kinda rough though. Weird wear patterns from the death wobble and front end in need of rebuild. They'd make decent spares I suppose. They're yours if ya want them.

Oh yeah, according to the tag on the 60, it has 4.10's. Another little bit of good news. :D

It's going to be pretty tough looking. Are those 48" Michs or 52"? How tall are you making that thing?

I see California plates but I don't remember California having that much space lol Where are you? Looks like a good build.

What are you planning on using this thing for? Looks like it's going to be pretty sick just by switching out the rubber....
