Engine finally buttoned up and filled w deionized water for a cooling system test and one last flush, then it will get fresh Peak longlife put in.
The battery trays were a bit rusty, the drivers side cable was heavily corroded, and I just couldn’t ignore it, so the trays are sitting in EVAPO RUST overnight. I cut the jacket off the cable and took a fiber cleaning disc to the flat end, it cleaned up good. Also cleaned up the cable bolt and the battery terminals. I’ll coat them all with some battery grease when they are installed.

That’s a little better
Heavy rust pitting required a 24 hr dip, then a good wire brush, and another couple hours in the EvapoRust. A good wash w some Dawn dish soap, and blow dry w heat gun, then a shot of zinc chromate and two coats of Moeller Neptune gloss black enamel.

Rear brakes will be a big improvement as these ones are not making ideal contact.
Fronts aren’t bad, could certainly have run them much longer but MAW!
Did a trial fit on each axle, they look like a match.
Also will need to clean things up especially the parking brakes before final installation.
Do you have to pull the hubs to service those?

Florida is pretty flat I suppose that's why it looks like they never used the parking brake...

From what I can tell it looks like it was 230k+ miles in TX.
I didn't want to try the parking brake until I had the rotors off...they suck when you cant “unstuck” them.

Got the Powerstop brakes on both axles, and bled the system out, then flushed 3 times, pedal feels pretty good, without engine running, Im hoping it will improve some on the road test. I used a vacuum bleeder and did it by myself. Gotta make do with what ya got!
Cleaned the parking brake shoes and hardware, and spent too much time adjusting them. No matter how much adjusting it seems one side wants to grab sooner than the other, but I figured if you push the pedal hard it will grab both of them.Lubricated the cables where I could as well as the adjusters.

Road test was great
New brakes are bedded in
Pedal is up and firm
Drained the distilled water out and filled w long life anti freeze
Ready for a road trip!

Rear brake kit was 379 from Rock auto after core returns.
Front brake kit was 211 from Amazon. No core charge.
This must have been a pricing error, because this kit is 421 now.

total cost front and rear was $590 + a couple quarts of fluid 16.50
