Maybe run some winterized fuel through it, or some anti gel in the tank and a quick drive first at least.
If you haven't done that already at least :dunno:
Ditto on block heater.

Stabil makes a diesel additive I believe. Never had the need for it. Biocide to keep algae from growing might be good.
I agree on the fuel needing treatment, anything that neutralizes algae or fungus.
I had problems with mine sitting a long time and I had the system plugged.
Not fun that's for sure.

Thanks for the reassurance. I figured if it was just going to stay put for winter and has adequate antifreeze it would be good. But great to hear everybody feels the same about the heater.
I changed oil, filter, and filled up w fresh diesel + Amsoil all in one for diesels, with some run through the engine for 10-12 miles.
The barn has multiple mouse traps set around the inside perimeter as well as a couple in the interior and a couple on top of the engine. Its worked well for me in the past.

Be careful with what additive you are using.
Some do everything in a decent way, and some do better job at one thing, you need a fungicide, not a cetane booster or an injectors cleaner.
I have good results with the power service Green, I believe it says emergency something, it targets fungus and it can fix a problem if you put enough in there, but works really well in prevention

Everyone around here uses Howes. I am not sure if it is any good or not, but that is what they all use.

Martin
I have used Howes when I used to go through the Midwest.
It's fine but it wasn't cheap and I didn't get any better mileage from using it, I did get better mileage using a couple of other cheaper brands so I stopped using it

My biggest concern is for lubricity. Never heard of fungus being a concern in the fuel. Wouldn’t the fuel filter remove that? Or is it a problem in the tank?

It grows in the tank and then plugs everything up. It's actually algae. It grows in biodiesel especially. If your tank is full it helps prevent it since there is less chance for condensation and moisture to be an issue and the moisture feeds the algae. It usually looks like brown snot. It happens more in tractors and equipment that sits for long periods of time but we did see it in our power company trucks a few years ago in the primary filters. My brother in law's backhoe just had issues with it. It sat for like a year with a bad injection pump and when he got it back together the lines were plugged solid and he had to blow everything backwards with compressed air and then clean the tank out.

Gotcha!
IME plastic tanks don't sweat like metal ones do, maybe that helps too?
if its algae, is a liquid chlorine (as used in swimming pools) an effective (and safe) additive to the diesel fuel?

Hot shot or Howe's is some of the better storage additives for diesel fuel. Poor in the correct amount with a full tank, run the truck for a minute to get it circulated, and then park it.

Some of the concern for the fuel condition is the storage tanks at the station. If they get contaminated and pass water or junk to your truck because of no filters at the pump, or very coarse filters so that they don't have to change them. I honestly don't know if stations still have filters in the pumps anymore.
I buy Schaeffer's fuel additive for our bulk tanks at work. We tested out fuel years ago and also tested their additive in a few trucks. It has been a good product for us, and I would think that the "all in one" additive is similar based on what I have heard of Amsoil products. Check into what it is supposed to do, you may not need to worry.

I'd be interested in how much it raised the front.
Almost looks like 2/3 of it is behind the rear axle.
Im guessing it drives fine though or you'd have mentioned it lol.

And also for the record.... That would look awesome in the dually when it's done. :thumb:

Just wanted to make a reference for the future.
I’ll measure for a more accurate quote….I-need to lift it to modify the rear tiedown brackets.
GVW is 9900.

Looking great! About the additives… 2 fill ups ago I added a whole bottle of Seafoam and a whole bottle of some cheap ATF. It cleaned out my injectors, no smoke and gave one heck of a boost on performance and MPG’s. Usually just Howe’s is what I use in the winter though.
