ZL-1 engine!!

They are the very reason I stamped "fu(k off" on my engine pad...:pimp:

I built an LS6 clone for my z-28 if that means anything hahahahaha. I did get numbers matching heads for it though.

Yea I remember he always said of racin funny cars in 74-76 Maby there wer 2cars?

Nope.

Like I said, Roland built, raced, owned and managed the Hawaiian series of cars. Both the funny car and drag car. Well, his brother had something to do with the dragster that Keith Black built the motor for. Your dads name doesn't even come up in the list of people who drove for Leong.

Maybe, just maybe your father and few friends built a car and named it after the Hawaiian cars and raced it locally in Oahu? I don't know. Hell, maybe your dad knew Roland as a childhood friend and just embellished a little.

But what I can tell you is, the cars everyone knows as the Hawaiian, the Flyin Hawaiian, Revell Hawaiian née Avanti Hawaiian, King's Hawaiian Bread, Power Gloss Hawaiian, Hawaiian Punch, and finally, Hawaiian Vacation were all built and owned by Leong.

Here's a great video of Roland's connection with Don, Keith and the building of the first Hawaiian. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jfINNTZ8l4

This is 1963/65, I don't think your dad was involved with this effort.

I think that means something! Any photos of this Z?? What year was the car?

Im on my phone in the work camp. Pics you can see the old girl I posted a thread in the other toys forum here. You may have seen it there before. It's a '73 rs z-28 numbers matching, till I hauled the original engine out a few years ago. My old man bought it in '74, I got it maybe 10 years ago from him. I've got all the paper work for it here somewhere. The original bill of sale from Jack Carter Chevrolet here in Calgary, around $4200 off the showroom floor.

Good God this is the best laugh I have had on CK5 in quite a few years. K5kidd you might want to throw in the towel before it gets any deeper.

How about the "My friend has a 1986 [or whatever] full-convertible K5 special ordered from GM" ? Always loved that. Because they'd keep the tooling and parts around to make just ONE truck if somebody wanted it :surepal:

I went to school with this guy who always went on about the "bad ass Firebird" his dad was giving him once he got his license. Went on and on about how it had it all. Claimed it had some tri-powered big block Poncho and turbo 400. You name it, it had it. Well dipsh!t finally got his license and drove the "bad ass Firebird" to school. We were in complete awe of the old worn out six banger/powerglide combo and the three steel wheels that managed to keep the old dented hub caps. :haha:Dumbass was the wippin boy for the last few years of school. Oh and then there was his even dumber brother with the "factory" 350 Landcruiser. :D

tbh: I think some of what kidd is saying is true. His dad did race cars, probably knew Leong, and he has a barn full of motors that he hasn't look at since he was 7. I think with a little investigation there might even be a cool back-story here.

He does believe what he writes. He at least came clean when he found out it wasn't a ZL1.

Yeah I don't think the kids full of sh!t just misinformed/has his numbers mixed up
