± What was your worst Mod made to your K5???

[ QUOTE ]
1. Removing the CCC setup when I dropped in the 406, it'sitting in the driveway with a temp. permit because it won't pass visual smog check.

2. Boggers

[/ QUOTE ]I thought you liked running Boggers on the streets. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Rebuilding my 1/2 ton front 10 bolt, just in time to sell it for a 3/4 ton D44 to rebuild it, just to scrap it a few years later for a D60 (that got rebuilt). I could have got a D60 in the first place /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hmmmm..... I think the worst mod would be rebuilding the 305 in my old 84 K5. /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif Should have just went out and found a good 350 block for cheap, and rebuilt that. But, then again.. I was a newlywed back then.. and was prolly doing good to afford just the rebuild. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

My, how the worm has turned... /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

BTW: Holy post resurrection Batman.

No kidding, I was about to post one when I scrooled up and saw that I allready did three years ago!!!

Probably going with 8" springs all around instead of 4" springs up front w/ a shackle flip out back. I've trimmed all the fenders and probably have plenty of room for 42's, but I'd rather it sit lower. Heck, I would have trimmed the fenders mega to fit any tire anyway. But, that was Pre-CK5 member time.

I like them because they look f'n badass but they get tiring when I drive the K5 daily. The noise, tractor tire thud at slow speeds, shaking at 35mph, and not being able to go over 60mph.....kinda gets on one's nerves.

Don't get me wrong I love having them on the K5 because they look so badass and I always get the guys running A/T's and M/T's coming up and checking my K5 out in envy. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif THey are easy to put up with on a weekend cruiser that gets taken out just to show it off because it doesn't see very many miles.

$1500 into a 12 bolt rearend that I swapped out for a 14 bolt...but I did get $300 for the 12 bolt /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif Another one of those pre-CK5 moments, I could have probably done a full 1 ton swap for $1500...welll almost /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif

so far the only one I haven't corrected is I should have turned the 57's around to push the axle back for a way better departer angle.

I'm sure your already aware of the pinion issues, but I've found that another problem having the long side in front is that it can't stand climbing. They are just to long and too thin and they bend when the weight of the truck is supported on the end (truck near vertical). I've averaged about 1 set for 1 run lately...

Headers. Too much underhood heat and noise.
3" exhaust all the way and "performance muffler". WAY TOO LOUD, lost some bottom end performance; went back to 2.5" and a quiet muffler. Kept the headers since my old stock y-pipe is probably not worth resurrecting...

If you cant handle the heat/noise. get outa the kitchen.

Having someone rebuild my np 203 for way to much money. /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif If only I had known CK5 then.

yeap that was the other issues. I also like the idea a stock driveshaft fits the way it is /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
