Restomod build for a late friend
So if you missed my back story in the ‘76 thread, I’ll do a brief recap.
A good friend passed away a few months ago due to COVID, and his son asked if I’d trade my K10 swb for this Blazer and I said of course!
Plans for now are my usual “getting it running and back on the road”, then see where the build goes from there.
So some pictures.
This is how it sat yesterday at my late friends house. Right next to his other 15 projects.
My buddies son was off today, so he loaded it on his trailer and swung by to swap the Blazer for the K10.
Once he left I dug in a little more to see what extra goodies I was working with.
Found a factory roll bar in it which is awesome!
Also found out it has an unknown brand 4” lift on it. And the factory option sheet!
I then dig out my old center console I’ve been saving. I finally have a use for it!

An old coworker from LKQ is donating a q-jet carb, so I swung by the parts store and picked up a few things to see about getting this thing to fire!
While waiting to hear about the carb, I decided to get some tires that hold air under it. Also did a quick scan of the suspension. Everything seems to been in decent shape. Gas tank looks newer, and also has a factory skid plate.

Bitchin. OG paint, OG grille, rust ain't bad at all for a 75. Go to it!

As for the roll bar, they were standard in all ‘75 Blazers ordered with a hard top. Oddly a ‘75 Blazer not ordered with a hard top also did not get a roll bar. Seems almost backwards.

We go every year. Stay up too late the night before drinking beer, and then wake up with regrets in the morning. It’s a good time.

Once I get the ignition cylinder replaced, the plan is to throw it on a trailer and give it a good scrub. And yeah, I keep going outside to look at it even after I’m done working on it hahaI bet it would look pretty good with a good scrubbing on the outside!

My father in law has a 75 K5 that's the same color but with the white stripe in the middle. Yours has WAY less rust.
Just wait until I clean up the rat poop. I found some pretty serious rust last night.
I’m going to say this is legit 92k miles. With the condition this is in, it would be hard to believe it almost has 200k miles.
Once saw a civilian '70's K5 with a legit 40,000 or so miles on it.
However it had pushed a plow and spread salt it's entire life in Northern Michigan so there was about 50% of the body left.

Rat shit and random trash removed has revealed some pretty bad rust. The weird part is, the rocker boxes underneath are perfectly fine. I’ve filled up a 5 gallon shop vac 3x, and can finally see the floor.
