‘75 Fullvert Blazer- K5 Cody’s build- 8.1 swap***C10’s in the park*** Back to assembly.

Restomod build for a late friend
Well unfortunately none of the above happened engine wise. I’m an idiot, and forgot that a buddy gave me a complete c20 frame that had a very nice running small block in it. So the plan is to clean it up and stab it in for now. As far as free engines go, this one will work fine until I get a plan and parts saved up and ready to go. After I washed off the block this evening, I found the code stamped and it read 460777 which translates to a 76-79 car 305. Again, not my first pick, but a good cruiser motor for now until I get all my ducks in a row. The end goal is definitely going to be a big block. I just need to decide an 8.1 or build this 454 I have.

More development with this 350 smoking. Started the process of getting the truck ready to pull the engine. Pulled the lower radiator hose, and only about a quart of coolant came out. This truck does not leak coolant, nor is it coming out of the water pump. I’ll know more once I pull the engine apart, but my guess is the head gaskets let go and that I was burning coolant not oil.

So, I’m going to try and save this engine still. I’m going to see if honing the cylinder walls will take care of pitting, then toss in a cam and roller rockers. This engine ran great before the gaskets let go, so I’d like to save it if I can.

Usually when that's the case you can smell it, burned oil smells a lot different than antifreeze vapor, even just a little bit. Do you remember the smell when the engine was running?

Also, the cylinder pitting images are definitely not going away without an overbore most likely.

Been doing lots of clean up and painting this week. Decided to do something different than my usual black and orange motors. First picture looks yellow, but it’s Willoway Green to match the Blazer. Still going to add a decal on the valve covers but need to wait for those to come in. I got the motor stabbed in late last night, so I’ll be hooking everything back up today and hopefully taking it on a test drive.

While I was waiting for paint to dry I decided to finally replace the window that was shattered last year by wind and a rogue dually hood lol.

Continuing to knock out an item or 2 every night. New previously enjoyed visors as the original ones were absolutely trashed. Then started getting mirrors finally mounted on this thing.

The rear main started spewing yesterday, so that’s one of the next items on the list.
