‘75 Fullvert Blazer- K5 Cody’s build- 8.1 swap***C10’s in the park*** Back to assembly.

Restomod build for a late friend
I am going to do a mark vi, I think with mark 4 heads. I do have an 8.1 in my newer 01 sub, it's factory, with egr and air injection delete. I had to up date the push rods in that engine. Gm messed up on the early 8.1s poor push rod design, at full lift they hit on the rockers.

Wouldn't push rods be one of the last valve train components to get, after check valve geometry and length ?

Normally Yes, but often customers don't have all the equipment to measure the length, so occasionally they will just try the most likely recommended length, and if it doesn't work then take it from there. This is easier with adjustable valvetrain than stock non adjustable stuff.

Your new rockers will be adjustable ?

These are't actual adustable rockers, those are available for BBC, but not necessary for a typical mild engine build. These are adjustable on the stud like an old Mark IV, you change the studs so that you can adjust the lash with the nut or poly lock instead of it being a fixed height like the stock rocker stud.

Slowly cleaning and scraping away at the block in between other projects. Also pulled the plugs to get a read on how the engine was running and bore scoped the cylinders. Nothing major caught my eye. Plugs looked good. One had some moisture on it from sitting outside at my brothers place.

What the hell is holding that orange hunk of iron up. looks like its balanced on a 4x4

I didn’t realize what it looks like lol. I mean, I am an air bender.

It’s on an engine stand. That’s just supporting the extra weight out front as I believe I am over weight for the stands capacity.

they are for sure a different shape. I did not compare them when I had mine apart, I am not sure they are the same size.

I figured it out. They are not the same. They are also somewhat scarce. I found them, but no one has them readily available.

Yeah I got mine at ra in 22 but they are out and only show one brand.
I though they were supposed to be reusable. Truck as purchased coolant leak was 1 of those gaskets at cross over.
Don't see why a paper gasket wouldn't do the job, unless the thickness is needed. .081" is what I saw.
