Mostly stock rebuild.
Made the short drive in to work today. Gauges show that this is a healthy truck, and that I have been making excuses not to drive it.
I think there's something wrong with it. Looks unsafe to drive. I better take it off your hands before you hurt yourself.
There’s truth to that, I could hurt myself in a Ford Fiesta lol
I feel the same, and I probably would still try to LS swap it.
Day 2 has revealed that there is a hesitation/dead spot at the 1/4 throttle mark. Don’t remember if I ever did plugs and wires on this, so it may be time for some tuneup style maintenance.
Is this normal, or do I have a ground issue?
Dang, not sure here. If my truck were here I'd just go see if mine does it too. I've never paid attention. Seems like it may be normal.

I’m pretty sure the amber front signals were a 73-74 thing only. I have a set of clears if you still need some.
It's because of the way the side markers are wired/grounded. They only have 2 wires. Depending on which action is selected (running lights or turn signal) one wire will have power and the other is the ground. Then the wires switch jobs when the other action is selected. This ends up making the front and side markers blink opposite of each other.
Finally fixed the sagging bumper today. It’s a horrible rusted mess under there, but there’s enough bracket left to make it work for now.
I then decided to check out the front end and figure out why the suspension is knocking so hard over bumps.

Those are someone’s horrible patch panels on top of the rotting cab. I really will need a new cab to move forward. This thing is terrible.

Run it til it breaks apart. Otherwise leave it alone or it will turn into a mess.
I knew it was pretty bad, and I only paid $700 so it’s not the end of the world.
And yes, that’s my plan for now. Some new bushings of front and send it.
Hard to believe the upper shackle bolt is intact.
I bet it's not looking at the spring eye riding on the frame rail.
Just read through the entire thread, and I'm wondering why want to lift it. Seems like you already have it sitting right where it needs to be for ice cream runs. Extra height doesn't help with that sort of build. Eh?
It’s not getting a lift. If it did, it would be after a restoration.
