‘82 GMC “Junkyard JIMMY” {Build bash Rebuild}

Good brisket takes time.

I'm expecting the ORD delivery today. The other is from the E bay expected to be here Friday.

I'll try to squeeze in a few hours after school. I have to do a make up day Saturday because they cancelled on Tuesday.

Meanwhile I stopped by the local depot and got more MIG wire, new welding gloves , and some 40 grit flapper wheels.

Also congrats on 2000 posts in your thread
Party on!

I took some flat bar and bent up a little mount for the adapter. If all goes well it it will mount to the front of the crossmember as shown here on the table.

It's snowing outside and I'm not used to the freezing cold so that's all I'ce got for now.

I pulled the Tcase back out today. I made quick work of it. :D

Here's a comparison of the 2 adapters.

hell yeah, so much better
I've got the shorty and it's hard for me to grasp the idea of dealing with the tall adapter lol

Short adapter installed

image.jpg

I got the short adapter installed today.
Now you can see how I plan to mount it.

I didn't realize the short adapter is .25" deeper than the tall one. I noticed when the support rod wouldn't fit. :doah:

I modified it so now it works. :D

Thanks fellas!:D

I have more pics but Tappy Talk isn't working and I can only load one image at a time on the phone. :sign10:

Short vs tall adapter

I thought this was interesting.

My OEM tall adapter is 3.25" deep from flange to flange.

Short vs tall adapter

...and the short adapter is 3.50" deep from flange to flange.

Support rod

image.jpg

I noticed when my support rod would no longer fit.
I figure the easiest thing to do is make the slot longer as shown above.

...so I cranked up Grandpa's old drill press.

It's funny when I'm using the Grandparents old tools I always hear their voice in my head giving me advise and saying things like:

"I'm glad somebody is getting use out of it", or "wipe down those tools before you put them away".
