So what have you spent money wise on the "rattle can rebuild"?

Gaskets- $160
Timing kit- $130
Engine mounts- $120
Cleaning supplies, water pump,pushrods, rubber oil pan gasket and paint-$150 ish

~Around $550

This doen't include engine stand, hoist, or fluids.

I had a hard time getting the engine back in place.i don't have the real estate to go in from the front and I freakin welded my fender to the rock sliders so I couldn't remove them to make the job easy.(you told me so).

So I got creative with the ratchet straps and made it happening.

The new overhead crane system did the trick. It still tried to fight me the entire way.

After making up new swear words and busting my knuckles good. The engine is now back in the bay.

The DIY4X engine mounts are beyond sick.

You will love those mounts. Im so glad I went with a style like that. My headers used to hit the frame on full throttle hits. Now the damn thing doesn't even budge.
 
The engine has been running good. I have been driving around a bit and realized I don't like how my trac bar feels.

So I got a Balistic Joint.

I didn't want to get a 3/4" bolt so I used the sleeve from the bushing, now I can use the same great able bolt and not have to drill out the shackle.

Fits good and doesn't feel like the suspension is in a bind anymore..

The drive shaft is pretty well protected, not the mention the guy that built it for me said I can drag it across rocks.

The Ballistic joint is greasable, rebuildable, has more range of motion, and comes with a "No questions asked" lifetime warranty.
It's 3" wide and mounts Perfectly where the old poly bushing was.
Also it's just BEFFY and has a kewl skull on it.
 
I started laying out where I want my cage to tie into the body.
I marked out where the cage plates will land.

I had a piece of 1/4" steel laying around so I broke out the old grinder and started cutting strips for the plates.

After a while I had a pile of rough cuts.
I cut the bottom plates about 1/4" bigger on all sides.

I rounded off the corners to give them a little more personality.

I went to setup the drill press for the holes and saw this vine trying to take over.
I thought that was pretty kewl.

I cut some filler strips to shape to the countour of the bed.
I tacked them place then welded around the edge to create the angles of the truck bed.

For the B pillar I decided to cut the angle with the grinder and rosette weld the filler plate for the shape of the body.
I this will give a cleaner looking finish product even though it won't be seen after its installed.

The A pillar plates did not need any filler strips. The floor is flat up there under the dash.

Pretty soon I had 6 pairs of mounting points made up.
