‘82 GMC “Junkyard JIMMY” {Build bash Rebuild}

Yea it's hot, damn hot! We could put up some shade & I'll bring a cooler full of beer/ water. May have to break out the ol' slip & slide. Let me know what your schedule looks like, I work M-F & have the weekends off.

Since your willing to make the trip, I can do almost any weekend. I have to work at the welding shop tomorrow so I couldnt do this saturday but if you name a weekend I fan make sure Im available.

I have plans for the next couple of weekends. The first available is the weekend of the 16th. Unless my plans fall through on the 9th. If that's the case, I can be there then.
As far as beer, if it's HOT light beer would be best.

If your plans fall through for the nineth Id need to know for sure by the 6th, no later than the 7th. If not just let me know when you can.

I just booked a campsite at Crab Flats in Big Bear on July 8-10. I'm gonna hit the trails up there.
...So I can help you out on the following weekend. :waytogo:

Beast, I'll be in your neck of the woods on the 4th.
I'll be at Coloma (I think) camping on the river just outside Plaser City. My friends are getting married while out there while camping.

Let me know if this goes through. I'll bring my ass down too.

I've been doing jeep lifts lately. I make those buys bring their junk over on Friday evening, start tearing into about 6-7 till 10, and start again by 7 in the am and try to be done by 1 or so. Only way to do it in this heat.

Im thinkin I might swap in new axle studs and drive it to the welding shop in palm springs. I finally had them cut out those shackle flip brackets on the plasma cam. Just gotta do the gussets now and bend the plates. Plus they have big welders to play with. My lil 110 would require me heating the cracks at the steering box to get good weld penetration. Sorry to :sign28::sign28:

No problem on the thread jack, I don't really have anything good to post. I am keeping the weekend of July 15,16 open if you want some help.

I have been window shopping at the junkyard for some 14 bolts. A pair of axles costs $370 but oftentimes they have a 50% off. $185 buck for a pair - sweet! Most of the rigs w/ 14 bolt rears have 10 bolt fronts. Whats up with that? Do ya think the 10 bolt front is the same as the 1/2 ton 10 bolts or stronger?:dunno: I think a Dana 60 front will be harder to find.
I decided not to go hydro assist steering until I get the bigger axles. I am thinking about putting a locker up front in the meanwhile tho...

the 8 lug 10b is no stronger, in the ways that matter, than the 1/2 ton one.

It has bigger brakes wich are nice. If you can get a pair for 185 that is a pretty good deal. Or you can just get the outers and swap yours to 8 lug

Thanks Chris .
BTW-I'm flying to Sacramento tomorrow. Going camping near Plaser city.

I thought you would know.mmm lemee see here...

opps- it's near Plaserville -East of Sac on the 50. Somewhere out there, on a river.
