‘82 GMC “Junkyard JIMMY” {Build bash Rebuild}

Windstar fans installed

I installed some windstar electric fans this weekend.

I'm pretty stoked about it.:woot:

Here is something I threw together using Windows Movie maker.

Here is the in cab POV of that giant wall:

I think you could have made it up that wall if you just hit the gas a little. :D Was that the same huge man made thing with the big culverts under it that was in the video? :eek1: I'd be scared to try that one for sure.

It was huge and man made but not the one with the giant tubes. I think I could have made it too, I climbed to the top & didn't slip at all. I was alone, didn't have a recovery vehicle so I didn't want to take the chance and backed down.
I'll try it again sometime, I'm sure I can make it.

Coyote Canyon suckfest

I went to Coyote Canyon with my buds & some kids.
This trip was jinxed from the start.

It all started when my buddy Wick dropped off the trailer so I can tow out. There was a short in the wiring and 1 light didn't work. We trouble shot it for a while, then when we saw how bad the wiring was we decided to replace all the wires. We were up late but we got it done. When we tested it,it had the same problem, which turned out to be a bad ground in one of the tail light mounts.

The next morning I went to load up an the trailer by myself and managed to drive up on the fenders and crush one. :doah: The trailer is too skinny for the JIMMY to fit It actually rubs both sides by 1" on the front. and hangs off the sides by 1.5". I made it work.

So I get out on the tail, and hit a few bumps at high speed and my fans stopped working. I shorted out the ignition power source and had to do a quick fit. I just wired the primary fan ON until we get to camp.

The next morning I inspected the whole thing to find that my switch mounting could have been better, and the wires that go to the switch could use a little electrical tape to hold them securely in place too.
At the fuse box, there is still no power to the IGN power source, so I use a different one.
Everything works properly again.

So we hit the trail. This trial was weak. There was nothing challenging about it at all. So I made the best of it and found a rock in the trail to play on.

Then....

KERKER is my copilot again.

I broke my first drive shaft. It's Ok, I have a spare. But wait a minute, I gave my U-joint to Supermotard at TDS.

...good thing I went to the store the night before and bought a replacement, I even stayed up past my bedtime putting grease in the caps.:thumb:

So I installed the new U joint in the spare shaft, and it became my new front driveshaft.

So here is the scene, I am under the JIMMY wrenching, the kids are playing fetch with KERKER, and WICK parked his truck up on the bank on the side of the trail.
The ranger came out and gave me a ticket for having my dog off the leash.
He gave me a verbal warning for rock crawling on the trail!
He said I was deteriorating the trail and was damaging the parks property!
He also gave Wick a warning for off roading off the road.

He was really concerned about the local sheep population.

I won't be back there anytime soon.

Rough. Trip. ... Now I feel like an a-hole for not replacing what I borrowed. Glad you were smart enough pick up a spare. You must have jinxed it at Tds when you told me that you've never broken one.

What a rough trip dude. I think we've all had trips like that too. They can suck, but at least you were able to get everything working. I knew things would go bad if you let the dog drive again. I'm just glad he wasn't behind the wheel when the ranger showed up.

As far as the misguided ranger - what a douchepole. Some people in law enforcement can't tell the difference between the good guys and the bad guys. He should have been asking you if everything was okay and seeing if you needed his help (serving the public) since you were obviously broke down in the middle of the trail. It would have been freakin' hillarious if you had seen him broke down later on down the trail. Your dog should have given him a ticket for being a butt hole.

Looks like a good time was had by all once again. Also it looks like the Blazer and Jimmy were getting better traction than the pickup on 38s in this case. What kind of psi was he running because those tires looked like they were at or near street pressure with not very much give at all. Nice vids by the way.
