‘82 GMC “Junkyard JIMMY” {Build bash Rebuild}

I like it. I would say to make the bars that are on the outside of the lights go out to the outside edge of the bumper, but then they might block the headlights and make weird shadows or something. Don't know if that makes sense. Looks like it will do the job fine like it is. Good work.

Thanks,

NorCalChris painted an example like that but I didn't want to block the headlights like you said.

now utilize that bumper to wrap something around your front fenders :) and down to some bitchin rock sliders :waytogo: Like this :D

Thats kool but I don't want an exo.

I was thinking about running a tube around the inside of the wheel well from bumper to slider. Skin the 1/4 panel and weld it to the tube and incorporate a shock hoop in the mix. This isn't going to happen anytime soon, I'm going wheelin this weekend!

Added tubing

Here is my update:

JIMMY 107.jpg I coated the stinger with truckbed liner

JIMMY 110.jpg Bent some tubes for the gas tank

JIMMY 109.jpg Nothing like welding right next to the gas tank.

JIMMY 106.jpg Coated my tank armor.

I made a skid plate for this but I didn't get it bent in time.

I'm going wheelin this weekend. I would be awesome if some CK5er's show up. If you want to come out there is a map in this thread:

Bumper looks awesome. If I lived near the desert, I would go out there too. Can you take the gas tank armor off if you need to?

My weekend

IMAG0226.jpg At the stroke of midnight on my birthday I broke my axle shaft.

JIMMY 117.jpg I put the jack under it & called it a night.

JIMMY 120.jpg I got up early Saturday and started wrenching.

JIMMY 121.jpg I'm proud to say that I came prepared and had it fixed before breakfast was ready.

JIMMY 139.jpg JIMMY is good to go!

Good job! Its nice when you have the parts to fix it. I bet breakfast was good! I have done that repair many many times before going to the 14 bolt.

Bumper looks good!!:waytogo:

IMAG0232.jpg Went to the 4x4 training facility and stretched out the suspension.

JIMMY 150.jpg More carnage- I busted my hardtop window on the wall of the Squeeze Arch!

JIMMY 114.jpg The sunset at the information board.

I had a blast, sure I broke some things but that's all part of the game. Nobody got hurt, we had fun , and came home safe.

More pics & a video to come...

Thanks,

Breakfast was awesome! My buddy fixed a cowboy breakfast in a dutch oven.

I want a 14 bolt but funds are low. I'm gonna have to pull one from the junkyard or something like that. I want a front locker & gears too but I realize that as soon as I put it in I will be breaking front axles as well.

I wonder if my axle is covered under a warranty? I'll make some calls & let you know.

UPDATE:
I just called Summit Racing; My axle shafts are covered under a 5 year warranty! The new one is on the way.

Looks like a good time! I won $14.10 while I was in Vegas, guess I'll dump it in the parts funds.

I'll keep my eyes out for a 14b, might actually have a line on a 3/4 ton set up, I'll ask the guy.

Ok, he's got a 10b and 14ff, 3.73s, need new seals. He wants a reasonable offer, he's close enough that I can swing by and get some pics if needed.
