‘82 GMC “Junkyard JIMMY” {Build bash Rebuild}

Sidewinder trail

Euzoa came out to the trail with me. He rode shotgun & we had a blast. We hit Sidewinder trail. I got a few more battle scars and made the trail a little wider.

You missed it, on the way out i had to yield for that flamed suzuki and i broke my antenna off in the brush. It was a riot though.

Here is that pic of you widening the trail, i will put the videos on youtube and get a link for you

Thanks for coming out. I broke an antenna out there before too. A tree grabbed it and broke it off. It was the "little willy" (roof magnet) kind too. That's when I upgraded to a firestick.
Um, we only had a few pics but there was a lot of kool stuff.:doah:

Corral canyon pics

sidewinder 2.JPG The camp sites are pretty kool. 1st come 1st serve. There are 20 spots here & 20 more a few miles down the road.

I really wanted to drive out to the trail this time, hit it hard and drive home. I was successful. This is the trail that kicked my butt when I first got JIMMY. :woot:

Thanks, they're homemade like lemonade. I'm starting to think about making rock sliders & a cage. I have some ideas brewing.

Epic Fail

Remember that shock mount fix I did a while back?
It failed...

shock mount 001.jpg The old mount folded down 90* compressing my shock

shock mount 002.jpg I cut off the gussets on the original design and that is exactly why it failed.

shock mount 003.jpg I made this out of scraps laying under my fab table.:grind::weld:
You can also see how my tank armor bolts to the frame in this shot.

shock mount 004.jpg I was going to leave the boot off the shock but at the last minute I put it back on.

Wow that terrain is so cool. It's so dry that it looks like concrete - almost like a manmade course or something.

I still haven't made up my mind as to whether shock boots do more harm than good, especially in the dry terrain you wheel in. Good job on the shock mount repair. It shouldn't break anytime soon. :thumb:

That is a man made coarse in some of the pics I posted. Here is a video of it being made:

Yea, they are dumb. There was a bunch of sand trapped in there. I'm gonna take them off.
- How's your rig going? Is it still on jack-stands? What's the status?
Status is Im too damn lazy to figure out how to drop the axles with my tiny jackstands so I can make a shackle flip and swap in the 4:56 gears sitting in my garage. And now its so freakin hot out here finding a safe time to weld/work on it is next to impossible. I need the "banghead" smiley!
