wow thats a hike, that might be a weather pending plan for me cuz the 2hour drive home from corral was a bit nippley
 
o yea i need to get a spare or new tires before i go any where cuz my C Listers are a little older

Beast :how has the ten bolt held up with the 37"s and the moly shafts i'm in the same boat with the 1 ton rear and a 44 front and plan on running hummer pull offs?
 
It doesn't look all THAT nice. I ran 1" blue tape and cut the bottom of the tape off. I snipped a cut across the tape and folded the edge with pliers up to the top of the blue tape. I hit it with the BFH to smooth out the line and called it good.

The ONLY problem, I've had at all, is my balljoint's.

BUT, I have been running stock BJ's, and my truck gets run HARD.
Like, crawling rocks, then driving 50mph+, around the 4x4 race track.
I might have caught air once or twice, too... :whistle:

Other than my driving style eating up balljoint's, it's worked flawlessly. :thumb:

Chris used to beat on his stock D44, and he was fine.
He drives like a maniac, too.... Albeit, a smart maniac. :waytogo:

The road manner's on the 37's, are incredible.
One of the smoothest tires I've ever driven on....

They SUCK in the mud...
+4" of clay mud, and yer "ice skating w/ sock's on." :haha:

They kick a$$ in the sand.
They're also SUPER thick, So they make a good crawler tire.
Pretty sticky tread, if it's dry out....Or, you spin the tires till they smoke and dry off.... :whistle:

EDIT:

When you run 4340 shafts, you move the weak point to the U-joint.
A Spicer 297x joint will always break, before the (4340) shaft will....

So, carry a couple spare U-joint's.
I do.

Once I get my CTM's, I'll be be busting Locking hubs... Joy. :haha:

Yes sir, I'm still on stock 1/2 tons, with lockers front & rear & Superior Axles in the rear.
I'll pick up some junkyard axles after a while. For now I'm gonna throw in some 4.56's & run it.

You guys are coming to my playground so I'll be sure to show you exactly where your new found limits will be.:saweet:

So I had a beeer & went to the garage & took some pics for andyblack:


fender trim.jpg this is the factory edge of the piece I cut off.

fender trim 010.jpg I ran 1" blue tape as a guide. I cut to the edge of the tape with the snips.

fender trim 009.jpg I used the pliers to fold the edge on the tape line.

fender trim 008.jpg I continued folding until I reached the end of the panel. I made the folds blend in with the factory bend of the fenders edge.

fender trim 007.jpg I peeled off the tape and made the folds line up in as smooth as possible. At this point you could weld where it is snipped but I choose not to.

Cool. Thanks for showing that. I was wondering how you got it so smooth looking. I guess it would be impossible if you didn't cut it into several pieces like that. I think I'll do that with mine if I ever decide to clearance the body like you did. You da man! :bow:
 
You don't need to cut it as often as I did in the example, I was trying to show 1 flat, 1 bent 1/2 way & 1 bent all the way. However where there is a curve in the line, and you are trying to bend it, you will need to snip it more often to keep a smoother line.







I work with steel framing for a living and I often have to frame radius ceiling edges so I cut & bent metal a lot.
Check out this ceiling I framed a long time ago:

It has a short radius on the X plain, a long radius on the Y and a 3rd radius from corner to corner ...the pattern repeats 3 times. It's one of my favorites.
