‘82 GMC “Junkyard JIMMY” {Build bash Rebuild}

That is interesting. I wonder if it's because it was a diesel.:dunno:

If I used this adaptor and that crossmember I would have a funny looking center console!

...so I changed the tranny fluid. I switched to dextrin 6 full synthetic. :pimp:

The other fluid was no beano.

JIMMY likes it.

I'm glad that fixed it.

The flat crossmember that I'm using (like the one you have) came from a diesel Blazer. Also I have never seen one of the W-shaped crossmembers with a skid plate attached. My flat one has a skid plate though. Maybe if you had the skidplate as an option, then the adapter and crossmember were different than on a non-skidplate truck? I'm sure someone on this site knows. Not that it really matters. Just some info that may come in handy some day. I do know that certain adapters are rare and highly sought after. I've seen some go for $100 in the classified section. Not neccessarily the one you have. I'm just saying that if you ever swap to a different trans or t-case in the future, it may be good to know what you have.

So I'm starting to realize that there were more options for these trucks than I knew about. I wish mine would have had a skid plate. That may have saved my first case from breaking. Glad my new one has a plate.

If my name was Avery and I had mad fab skills, I would have just made me a killer skid plate. Unfortunately, I'm the type of guy that can't even let up the hood on my truck without breaking something...

Avery was a rookie once too.

Now look at him...:D:waytogo:

Hahahahaha. For real. I wouldn't consider myself a rookie by any means. I just suck! :haha: I like to get on this site and look at what other guys are doing. I would start my own build thread - The Epic Fail Thread. Unfortunately, I don't have any pics of my "progress" over the years. :doah:I'm sure some guys could learn from my mistakes. You know "here's the wrong way to do this so in case you ever run into the same thing you'll know what not to do!" :haha: :D

Well that didn't sound right I wasn't calling you a rookie, more like we were all rookies once...:D

I plan to get another cross member like mine from the JY and mount it on the other side of the TC. Then I can easily attach a skid plate between the 2 using minimal fab skills.

I'm also thinking about making a square front driveshaft. Why not eh?

...and a roll cage

...and getting a 14 bolt

....and an LS engine

...and a doubler

...and then?

Build on hold

Well, don't hold you're breath brother.

Every extra dollar is going towards the wedding.

Sounds like it's going to be somewhere near Cancun MX.

In about a yr I can throw money at it.

For now I'm trail ready as is.

Only maintenance and Junk refurbishing.

Ok, ok you called me out.

In the plans are to buy Supermotards 8 lug D44 w/ hydro assist high steer -after he finishes his 13Bff front build.
And Then go to the JY and get a 14BFF.
And then clean it and then gear it and then lock it slowly through out the year.

On the table sits a 2wd steering box waiting to get tapped and a slightly modified Xj shaft.

The roof has a rusty spot on the passenger side A pillar that needs surgery.:doah:

Sounds like a plan. Trust me, you should get as much done now before you get married because you may not have a chance after that. Your priorities may change.

Why don't you just let Supermotard help you build your own "13 bolt" fron axle?

True, I want to have a kid ASAP.

Superbro helps me out so much And has a lot going on. I couldn't ask .

I don't see how he would have time and I don't have the money.

Avery still is a rookie. I wish I had half the fab skills some guys do.

Andyblack if you don't think I mess up all the time, waste material, build something all day just to cut it off then think again. :D

I got something kewl and custom delivered on my door step today.

I already installed it. :D

The problem is I don't have my camera, ipad or SIM card on my spare phone so no pics today.

It might even deserve it's own thread.

It's going to be legend- wait for it...
