‘82 GMC “Junkyard JIMMY” {Build bash Rebuild}

It's so much fun to light them up.

...As I was driving down the state the other weekend I got to thinking about camouflage patterns.

Ive actually been thinking about camo for awhile too! More along what they did to that military vehicle on xtreme 4x4. The one the samurai fits in

Thanks. I haven't looked back at the old thread in a while.

Disclaimer: Be advised that I learned a lot thru trial & error. Not everything I did in this thread worked. I tried to post about things that didn't work out as well as the things that were successful.

This would be an interesting Camo pattern

A lot of the plant life looks like it belongs in an aquarium. As a matter of fact there are sea shells and fossils on some of the trails.

This is what you see most of the time where I go camping & wheelin.

Wow. Looks pretty dry out there for sure. Beautiful though. So is it mostly public land out there or what? I'm sure those RVs are on public wilderness land to all be parked out there like that. I wonder if they have a dump site. If not, you know things are going to get messy out there eventually. Hahahaah. How hot (or cold) is it?

It's mostly in the Anza-Borrego state park at Truckhaven,CA.

It gets too hot between Easter & Halloween for most people. 100* highs and I don't know how low like 80* in the middle of the night.

Next weekend it's supposed to be 75* highs and probably 45*low.

Most people out here clean up their campsites when they leave. You would be surprised, there are still good people out there...

...some good people clean up other peoples chit too.

I suppose you have to clean up after others if you want the land to stay open.

Yeah I would think 100* during the day and 80* at night could put a damper on things. It gets hotter than that around here but people just get right out there in it like it's normal. I can't stand it when it gets hot like that. Makes me want to puke. At least around here we have trees for shade. I didn't see too much shade in the pics you posted.

I'll bet the weather is pretty predictable and consistent out there too. That would be nice. Last weekend in my area it was in the 20s at night and 40-50* during the day with a cold wind blowing. The forecast for the next 4 days calls for highs of 77* and lows of 57* with lots of rain. What's up with that?

I don't know man, it's been cold and rainy ever since I put on my 1/2 doors.

I think It had a butterfly effect on something. Welcome to the new world!

That's weird because we've had two extemely mild winters around here in a row. I'm hearing on the news about all the snow and cold temps in other parts of the country but we've had unseasonably warm temps for a while now. My wife's cousin in VA said it's only snowed once where he's at this winter and he normally sees a good little bit. I haven't talked to my brother in PA this winter, but last year he said it didn't snow there at all, and he usually has to deal with lake effect snow off of Lake Eerie. He normally has to shovel his way down the driveway every morning to his car that he has to park on the curb becuase it won't make it up his icey drive! Not so the past couple of years.

I guess the cold weather is stuck out west with you guys for now.

I just know that I personally don't like having to wear shorts and have the A/C running while I'm opening my Christmas presents. It just isn't right.

I think I'll try to adjust the carb today. I put the spring loaded needle seats back in and it runs good on the street but it kind of sucks on the trail now.

It does good on uphills, it tends to stall when I do a steep downhill.

Too bad I don't have a really steep hill to test it on... or do I?

It also could have been the fact that I was low on gas and the fuel was hiding in the corner of the tank away from the pump. :dunno:

It might be time for a junkyard Q jet.

We'll see how it goes this weekend...

Edelbrock Thunder 650cfm

This F"N POS! I adjusted the floats to EXACTLY what the instructions say and it's no beano.

Good at low speeds ,stumbles at full throttle...

Now I'm back where I was a few months ago with a carb that either has no top end or no bottom end.

Shoulda got a Q jet, shoulda got a Q jet, Shoulda got a Q jet :doah::doah::doah:

Any advise?

I think the instructions are for non spring loaded needle seats, maybe I will put them in, set it, them swap them back out for the spring loaded ones. :dunno:

Stumbles up high the floats are too low.

NorCal_Chris Thread <<click

Check out NorCal Chris' thread post #439.

Once again I am going to use his ideas.

I see the float levels are WAY different than the instructions.

Instructions say 7/16 drop , he says 5/8.

Instructions say 15/16 hang ,he says 1 1/4"

I bought a piece of tubing to do the "re-breather" mod too.

yea thats an old holley trick i had it on mine back in high school, the should help if it's only on steep angles that your having the problem
