I'll be curious to know what kind of effect this has. How much more travel do you think you'll get from this setup?
I don't expect any more travel by In boarding the shocks.
The total amount of travel at the shock mount location is less than the total travel of the shocks.
The travel will be limited by the leaf springs only.
I laid out my rear suspension on the table by taking measurements with the axle at full droop an full stuff.
Here are some numbers I crunched.
Measuring at the shock mount without shocks installed.
Ride height=0"
Full stuff= -1.5"
Full droop= +2"
Shock has 9" travel from 18" to 27".
1.5"x2(double measured up travel)+1" extra= 4" up
2" x2(double measured down travel)+1" extra=5" down
Ride height=22"
Full stuff= 20.5" (18 min)
Full droop=24" (27 max)
So far it's a nice ride.

Sweet. So what about the front? Hopefully those front springs are better than the doom and gloom I spewed about Superlift and Skyjacker. (My wife loves my positive attitude.)
The front is freakin sweet! When I went on the mid build run to meet SBD we did some fast runs down sandy washes with whoops.
Even with the old junky shocks it ate up the bumps and delivered a smooth ride.
I even caught some air at one point and landed smooth.

Glad to hear she is now I true dune runner!!!
Maybe one day you will make it out here, or ill make it out there for a weekend of sand slingin!!!
I'm still not a big fan of loose sand and vast Dunes of it.
If you ever make it out here you can stay at my place.
There's no way I'm driving JJ through the rust belt. It would dissolve faster than the K-30 in Dante's Peak when it drove through the lava.
I'll see if I can talk Superbro into driving up from Carolina in July for the DFHP.

Well okey dokey then.
I didn't measure the front shocks and axle travel before installing them. I know, Better men would have but I figured since I ordered 4" "soft-ride" springs and the shocks were listed to work specifically for a 4" lift it should be fine.
Well it was like an itch in my brain that I couldn't scratch so I just had to go out and check.
This photo is my shock disconnected and axle at full droop
The shock and axle bottom out at the same time. I would feel better if I had another inch or 2 to spare on the shock but I don't. I could move the bottom mount up an inch or so but I don't know...
I may regret it but I think I'm just gonna call it done for meow.
I'll drink about it and decide later.

A cobbled together hacked up mostly stock Junkyard JIMMY on 10 bolts made it in the calendar.
A rig so sweet that it gets awarded 12 months instead of a measly one.

You deserve it more than most Paul. You wheel that thing all the time and keep her going without falling into the "you gotta do it like this" way that so many of us do.
I've always loved your rig a lot and hope to see it wheeling for a long time, and hopefully parked next to mine one day in the sand

Make that commitment for Blazer Bash '18. I'm buying a trailer soon so I can tow out to farther places.
I'm all about having an expedition rig and driving out to the trail and back but it's much more fun to not have to worry about the long drive home when your out bashing it up.
My old driveshaft yoke leaks so I bought a 1350 yoke.
For now I'm going to mount it using a 1310/1350 conversion joint just so I can keep driving in case the zombies come. The funny part is the D-shaft will have conversion joints on both end.No worries it will soon be my spare.

The JIMMY definitely falls into the "most wheeled" category on this site. I wish I could join that category, but alas...
I did get to wheel on a sandy beach and a swamp last weekend though. I even convinced my dad to take his freshly painted Dodge extended cab with street tires down there too. I was imagining I was Paul at the TDS for a minute...

It will be ok for now, just remeber full droop on jackstands is a lot different than full droop while flexed. 1-2 inches different
