‘83 K10 Shortbed Sally

Family Leftovers…
She started. Carb is definitely fouled up from the old gas. Put the fan back on and shroud. Need to set up a hot wire for the choke and fuel pump off a relay. Getting closer to a test drive around the block.

Hopefully you're putting clear gas in it..... As in 0% ethanol.

If it was me I’d put a set of relays on the headlight circuits. That cooked bulkhead connector is byproduct of running the power from the battery, into the cab, through the headlight and dimmer switches and then finally back out to the lights.

The old wiring increases the resistance and puts more load on everything. Which you end up with the fun you found.

The existing wiring does the switching on signal for the relays so it doesn’t have the same current load. The main load is pulled directly from the battery to the headlight. Shorter path and newer automotive grade wiring it can handle the load.

On mine the voltage at the lights went from 12.3v with the engine running and alternator putting out 14.4v. Once the relays were installed the voltage at the lights was at 14.3 v. Even with plain halogen lights the brightness was noticeable.

I'm thinking that is actually the dimmer switch. I believe I seen them in LMC catalog. But what Zoo said, relay ftw.

The relay's definitely helped make my headlights brighter. But even then, the lack of light is scary. I like my modern HID's.

Good replacement housings with led elements will surprise you. Combined with relays they toss a lot of light.

Oh god yeah, I have led’s in the K5. Low beam is awesome and high beam is

Yeah it is going to be sweet. My dmv appointment isn’t until the end of March to get it registered, but that don’t stop me from cruising around the neighborhood.
Haha! My 77 has never been registered since I’ve owned it.

Honestly it barely ever has left the yard but a few times to stretch its legs.

What size tires are on yours? Look like 31s
