Those trailer spindle style hinges work for a smaller tire, but they are well known to fatigue and break off with the weight of a larger tire.

Mounting in double shear handles the load much better and safer. With both sides of the pivot supported it is much safer with a large tire.

Back in for clearance checking and I don’t know how I got off this much but you can probably see my booboo. I’ve got an idea to fix it though.

Have I mentioned I’m not much of a fabricator?

Honestly it’s not that bad. Got plenty of penetration, which is all anyone ever needs

If you question your welds at all, I wouldn't build a cage or suspension components. Buying a DIY4X cage would be cheaper and easier, yet still require welding.

Order a DIY kit and then pickup some tube to practice on while your wating. Once the cage is tacked in you can make the decision whether or not you want to weld it or have someone else burn it together for you.

Should be set to have the TC and crossmember in its new home tomorrow.

So with all the drivetrain in would it be ok to set pinion angle even though the interior is out and the doors are off? Would that make that little bit of weight make that much difference in the angle?

I still have to add a rear bumper which is gonna be 100+ pounds.... I think I just answered my own question.

I gotta fix the one on the D60 anyway cause it got the smoosh put on it so I was thinking it would be a good time to hit them all.

Maybe set the seats inside it towards the middle and put something ~100 lbs in the rear close the the tailgate? What rear springs do you have? If factory (vs custom) I doubt they'd compress much more at rest with that simulated weight, if you had some softer custom stuff you might want to get it within 100-200 lbs of typical weight. What about the cage weight also?

Any chance of you bringing the Blazer in April?

They’re 3” tuff country springs. I thought about hanging some weights off the back to simulate the bumper. May try that.

April isn’t gonna happen. I thought I’d be painting during this week off but it was supposed to be raining all week. Well that has yet to happen so hopefully I can at least get some more prep done

I hear ya, it's going to be tight on mine. I can get by with a couple of things and get it to a point where it'll go but in my mind there's a million things I should do first.

Seriously, does it have fluid in it yet? If so, could you have spilled some? Is it freshly rebuilt? If so, maybe it got some on it during assembly? Either way, I'd clean it DRY with brake clean and recheck it.

I should be heading to Steel Works Monday for some materials.

Yeah it’s got fluid in it, it’s dripped out the back a few times getting things in and out. Wouldn’t think it would get into that plug or come out of it. Not sure which it’s doing.

Maybe the switch has a crack or bad o-ring? That'll suck though because it'll dump fluid if you have to change it.

The stuff is supposed to be in Friday but no specific time so I'm going to wait until Monday to go up so I can verify it's all there first. Great prices, so good I ordered some crossmember and traction bar stuff too. I'll holler Sunday and check in with you.

Can’t believe this is actually gonna work. I was worried the shifters wouldn’t clear the console or the shifting mechanism on the magnum, but it all just squeaked by. The shifter housing has a little adjustment to it, so I just gotta fine tune that, cut off a few screws and tighten it all down. It’s tight as hell in there but looks like it’ll get the job done. I’ll probably get some rattles from it all though
