“Dylan’s” 89. Back at it!

89 Jimmy 6.0/4l80e/MAGNUM 205/d60/14bolt
So it’s all dry to touch now and I think everything will come off with a good wash. Takes 7 days for a full cure so I’ll give it that then hit it with some soapy water.

Did you clear it? If so most stuff you can wet sand out.

It’s a single stage. I didn’t realize at the time that I talked to the paint shop about it but I’m kind of glad, that would’ve meant another whole day of spraying.

Some time in the distant future I may go back and sand it all down and give it another spray but it’s time to move on for now.

Base coat with the right catalyst flash time is only 15-20 minutes. Same for clear so shouldn’t be much more time unless you have to clean the gun. I got the dekups system for my Devilbiss so it should make it easy.

Yeah probably so. I always saw that base/clears were stronger, which is why I thought that’s what I was getting, but I did some research on this stuff and it looks like you can spray it on anything and it’s there to stay. PPG AUE-370. I have no complaints on the paint itself. Probably could’ve thinned it out some more but :dunno: At this point as long as it doesn’t start flaking off in a couple months then I’m happy.

The 2 side shots in the garage with the rear shell hanging are cool, they’d make a good then/now split screw pic.

Just make sure you get some wax on that single stage in a week or so. They like to become chalky if not waxed

still looks good! it will end up getting pinstriped regardless lol.
When I had my old blazer painted, a moth rolled down the passenger side after my uncle had sprayed it, so it could be worse.

Thanks guy. Yeah I think it looks good still when out this morning after it dries and most stuff just wiped off. Still has some smudges but that can be fixed another day.

In other news: maybe I should’ve gone bigger :eek1:

As we watch one of my daughters favorite movies for the 9000th time, it hit me! The fresh white paint, the extreme over build, the many MAW decisions....Dylan’s Jimmy is now Snowball! :haha::haha:

Snowball got most of here clothes back on.

New window felt and trim that fits like crap but hopefully overtime it will mold into place. LMC packaging sucked too. I’ve never really had a problem ordering stuff from them but they had everything just crammed and bent up in a tiny box. Oh and the window channels are two different designs.

Sorry I never got back to you on the windshield, did that go ok?
