“Dylan’s” 89. Back at it!

89 Jimmy 6.0/4l80e/MAGNUM 205/d60/14bolt
Well, about that. All the power steering fluid has disappeared somewhere, so all you can hear in other videos is the pump whining. I’ll get another video when we get home and get some fluid in it.

Power steering is over rated, cut the belt and make WOOPOW!

She’s got some death wobble, but nothing in the steering has been adjusted, it’s just there. Should resolve after an alignment, huh?

Stop scaring the baby!

Edit: I just noticed the baby stopped crying when you got to the house, lol

Check the caster, mine had DW until I got it in spec.

Sounds good!

The fans won’t come on either ugh! I’ve checked them before. The relay is good and the fans will come on when hooked directly to power so I guess it’s gotta be in the ECM :dunno:

Truck sounds great! What size and layout did you wind up going with on the exhaust? I remember you debating 3" earlier but couldn't remember if you stuck with that or what the routing was (x-pipe, h-pipe, or straight pipes).

3” with dual 12219 magnaflows ran just to behind the axle. No H pipe. We talked about doing it but we decided to try it out for awhile and see. I just wanted it bc I was scared it would be too loud, but I think it’s fine as is.

Messed around with the steering a bit. Did a rough alignment, got everything torqued down, but still have a little wobble. It is improved though. Caster looks to be around -8 degrees which should be within spec. Always knew that too vertical or positive is no bueno but what could being too negative cause?

I’ve thought about shimming the front axle some about 2-3 degrees to improve the front driveshaft angle, wonder if this would help the DW.

Clarification: It is +8* measuring from the top of the inner C and top of the knuckle on the king pin cap.
Well as long as it's between 5 and 8, and the top is tilted back (in case negative and positive is confusing) your angle should be good.
I like 6 better but 8 should be good.
Toe can also create the wobble and in my case the loose bearings did it.
Also check the ubolts, mine were loose after they were worked and caused a side to side sway

How much did y’all torque your leaf spring bolts? Got poly bushings and I torqued all to about 45ft/lbs. but now I’m finding the fronts should be torqued to like 120ft/lbs and the shackle end to 45....

About 3 uga uga’s

??

No torque wrench here, I just kinda watch the bushings and quit when I start getting some squish. I guess you could say super snug. Not real techy.

Lookin good!

You know, we've got a reservation at Stoney Lonesome we need to burn up this fall...

I shouldn’t have anything holding me back from that!

List of want parts before then:
Bumpers
Winch
Front locker
Hydro assist.

Hydro Assist will probably happen soon as a future DW deterrent.
