NC 1 ton axles

They are safely home.
Back is trashed. Should be mobile without stiffness in a couple 2 or 3 days.
Hell, just lifting the hub kicked my backside!! Lol

Sh!t Ray, hope you have an engine hoist or something to assist, and didnt use all back. At least they werent fully dressed with brakes. Those mofos are heavvvy

Yes they are!!

I used my engine hoist but they are still awkward.

When I get back from fla I'll start studying up how to maintain and build them.

Have yo go to FL this weekend. Finally going to see my son for the first time since 1999.

His mother is demanding to be there. I made myself clear I have no desire or business seeing her.
Playing it by ear....

Any ways, I'll start on the axles when I get back. I'll need one hub, clean the one I have, and everything else, bearings, locking hubs. Etc lol

I guessing I'll need bigger rims.
Just bought new tites in the spring...
Never ends

You can run 15’s, backspacing less than 3” wont require much grinding. If you are wishing to get new rims I’d suggest going 17’s, much better tire options that 16’s at this point in the game

2.5" b/s better. i had to grind a bit on some 3.25 ones back in the day .

Agreed. I had 3” and minimal to grind, but did have to grind. 2.5” is no grinding

I did some grinding when I first went to the one tons because I had new tires on 15’s. My next set of tires included 17” wheels.

I have a set (5) of brand new 15" M/T's sitting in my garage.

I also have a set of refurbed 16" factory steelies.

Been looking for 1 tons for years. Gave up and bought the 9.5".
Then these pop up right when I get everything I need.

I still have the 90 2wd, it's in much nicer shape.

Might throw them under it instead, with the big block and nv4500. It'll be fun, they said...lol

I just moved a complete dually 14bff, I laid it on a moving dolly strapped it tight and lifted one end in stead of the handle because it's longer than the dolly, and moved it 200 feet on gravel.
I didn't damage my back, but I wouldn't want to do this every day.
I also moved an engine block and a couple of transmissions today.

It needs brakes, I'm thinking of going disc.
Found a set for around $800.

And ouch!!

Sky mfg makes brackets for 60s to run 3/4 ton calipers up front so you can run 15s.

$800 for rear discs is too much, the brackets can be had for $60 or so, the rest is just buying pads rotors and calipers for a 3/4 ton

Thanks!

Did some reading, the 6 lug hubs for the rear kills that plan.

I'll try to sell the new 15" tires and go from there.
