What all can I do to beef up my 10 bolt front and rear? What type of locker should I look at? Will a STRANGE c clip elimanator kit work?

Do yourself a big favor if you have the cash. Buy a 14ff for the rear and do an 8 lug conversion up front. This will save you from throwing away good money on junk axles. Yes you'll have to buy new wheels but the 14ff is pretty much indestructable.

C-clip eliminators don't work well unless you are pretty much straight line fairly level driving. I wouldn't use them in any 4x4, unless you plan on doing a lot of repairs while on the trail. Any off camber type stuff will help to break them and help you lose an axle.

what size tires do you run, and what kind of wheeling to you do? How often do you drive the truck on the street?

I'd have to agree. I bought a limited slip 5 years ago for my 10b rear, upon install found out I needed new shafts, spent A LOT of money to have it done. 2 trips on nothing too hairy w/ very mild driving (off the beaten path grouse hunts) and my axle housing just about folded in half.

-Bought a 14b w/ new disks for $250 (thanks to KennyW)
-an 8 lug 10b front for $100
- new 15" 8 lug wheels (I had just bought new 15" tires)
-U-bolts and plates
-conversion u-joint

All of this for less than my orig 10b repair.

my biggest problem with the 10 bolts was the front axle. i ran 38s for about 5-6 years on the same set of 10 bolts. never one problem with the rear. it was the front axle shafts, bearings, and ball joints that i was replacing every year.

I am running 38" TSL swampers on it. I use it around town, camping, some trails and mud(not bogs or pits) just having fun in feilds. I can't find any 14bolt FF around me anywhere. If I get a 14bolt, do I need a DNA 60 in front?

Maybe try to find a whole truck that someone is parting out. Or run what you got 'till you blow something up but I wouldn't invest any money in the 10 bolts. I found a M1008 with a 14bff and dana 44 (44 had been swapped in, don't know why) and TH400/NP208 for $1000 and I parted out the rest.

ya don't even bother messing with 1/2tons go for 3/4 tons.

I have beefed up 10bolt front and rear. Ive got yukon chromoly axles, all new seals, ujoints and Loc RIte locker in the back. Im running 4:10gears thru a 700r and running 33 x 12.5. x 15 tires. With that being said I do light wheeling and havent had any issues. Since you are running 38s, there would be no way id spend any money on 10bolt front or rear for that. Keep looking for a 14ff, youll find it eventually.

You don't need a D60 but you'll probably want one with 38's. So damn expensive.... find a 3/4 10b front. There was a truck featured in Four Wheeler mag, the dude was running 38's w/ a 10b front but it was Yukon axled and trussed etc he claimed no problems but as "abig84" said you'll go
through bearings and ball joints quickly.

I wheeled my burb w/ 33's for a long time with no problems and drove it daily. (For work I do over 350 miles a week) Put on the 35's and a year later I was doing ball joints and bearings. Luckly I have a new DD so the burb only see's about 1k miles a year. DAMN YOU OPEC:mad: I feel like a midget in my VW Golf:(

seriously youre not looking hard enough. they came in every 3/4 and 1 ton 2 and 4 wheel drives from 73-present trucks and vans and more. and no, you can just use your current 10 bolt front and put 8 lug hubs on it.
