Someone is selling two sets of axles they say are off a military K5 Army training vehicle, stock with 4.10 and full lockers front and rear???? They sent me some pics Ill try to post for you guys to identify....

Not letting me post pics, says some security enabler is missing...

Not normal or standard issue with a K5 based CUCV. They had 10-bolt diffs with the front being open and rear had the Gov-lock. Though I can't say if they are standard issue or have been modified over the years.......though if I was forced to bet one way or the other I would say they did NOT have true lockers front and rear.

Do you have pics of the actual inside of the carrier?

Yes I do but I cant post them for some reason?? Ill email them to you if you want. Guy just wrote me back again said "These axles are definatly 4.10, not sure why but the trucks were also modified with lift kits pro comp shocks and a crazy looking roll cage with special bracketry inside. Im sure the tax payers spent a lot of money modifying these trucks."

Im trying to get ride of 10 bolt rear haha, but if for a few hundred bucks I can have 4.10s and lockers, might be worth running them until they blow...I dont wheel at all in my GMC, only daydreams of it once I get gearing better and steering fixed. So it would see minimal wheeling I bet, they might last a while. Gonna wheel the Jeep more.

If the axles came off of a CUCV used in NTC (fort irwin, ca) then what he is saying is a strong possibility. We use them at the national training center as "haji" vehicles. Basically the guys who pretend to be the bad guys ride in them, the trucks are all lifted with full cages and 35 ish inch tires. Reason being, is because they like to get into vehicle chases with us, out in the open desert, So they are built to be fast and safe.

No way that sounds pretty damn cool!!!!

I keep trying to post pics but it says security enabler missing?

anyone shoot me an email address I can send you the pics if you can post in the thread

yup they are from Ft Irwin! Said he didnt know what they were for, all jacked up, roll bars, and painted blue

anyone got an email i can send the pics to so you can either post them up here or ID the lockers in them?

yea thats why I thought it was bogus or odd at first....but when he said the trucks where lifted with Pro comp shocks, bad ass roll cages, etc, painted blue....and the other member on here said the base, when I asked the guy what base he named the same one...so it makes sense these were modded...now I just want to see if someone can ID what kind of lockers/LS are in them.....and if its worth to get them even though they wont be as strong as 14 bolt....but if the price was right its 4.10 gears i need bad...

ya no kidding i want some 4.10s! Rears are def gov bombs.

i got security enabler, then said too much room, pic files are HUGEEEE though.

Pm me how much he wants for those axles, if you wanted to send me the gears and lockers from a front and rear and the price was right, id be interested.... :D

Thats not good then.....front and rear govt bombs? ugh....I was hoping they were some other full locker (not that Id want a full locker up front), so they might last a little bit compared to a govt bomb....Ive grenaded two of them bastards in my fist K5...granted I was heavy footed hard core mud stomping every weekend beating it....but two rear ends in 2 years of high school ugh....I finally went to a 12 bolt and never blew it, not sure if it had the govt bomb or not....

So probably not a good idea to get these things?

the front looks like a detroit.
i say get em' and swap an open carrier into the rear with a lockrite.

Front definitely is a full case locker, likely Detroit. Grab em both, swap the Detroit in the rear, find an open carrier for the front.

Gotta look closer, but for now I'm not seeing any ratio numbers.

It is a guess without seeing some pic's of it rotated.

10 bolt Detroit for comparison sake...

So buy these? I'm intrigued now.

Ft Irwin is where the Army does the OPFOR training. Guys pretending to be our enemies and using their weaponry and equipment along with our stuff modified to act and look like theirs. Might be they needed some more capable rigs to drive around in and built up some M1009's.
I know I've seen a few M1009's done up with plywood "armor" to look like some kind of armored truck come out of there on GovLiquidation.
Definitely check the gears though.
