i can understand that one.....any one ton front rears are taken out b4 they get in the yard.....ive looked for years at 3 local yards and only ever seen one 60 on a dually with the carrier pulled and no axles........other than that the 10 bolts and 44s are all over........mostly i see 10bolt 308 or 342s....

I actually get D60s regularly but i have a waitlist for them that has 10+ people every month:(. Beleive it or not i have 3.73, 4.10, and 4.56. and mounds of 3.08s:doah:

i run a 10 bolt center section with dana 44 flat top knuckles and big hubs and never had a problem with it. i was runnin 42's on it and beat the snot out of it on trails had it in front wheel drive only and hoppin away. i'm super suprised its never broke but i was lookin for just stock extra axles to have on hand and everyone has them. so i think i got the best of both worlds.

man if i was in cali id get on that list as well.nice to know at least someone can still get them.:waytogo:

as old as this thing is,its still worth looking at for newbies who are still learning and figuring out what they want to do with their trucks.hell if i didnt see these kind of threads when i started i wouldnt know much about my truck.or learn about it for that matter.

Exactly what this newb just did AND it was the search feature that brought this thread to my attention :waytogo: I just read through the entire thing dang I am tired. Learned a heck of a lot though. I can't really cast a vote in good faith yet since I don't wheel much my sub is a DD.

1- keeping my 10 bolt front w/ 3.73 from my 89 and hoping I have the 30spline
2- upgrade when I have the cash
3- never read a answer on a 10b rear's value though.

I have the 10b rear. Going to be tearing into it in next couple days to fix a outer bearing and had got to wondering if it was worth it to even upgrade to stronger components. If I could afford it I would do ARB if they make them for it.

If you do some searching for info on the rear 10b you will find it's not worth putting much money into. Your situation may be different. Where you off road is more sand than anything else, a rear 10b may work just fine for you if you don't put too much power to it. Also keep from jumping the truck with it.

What you want to look for, if they can be found in your country, is the 88-98 GM 4x4 truck with the 14 bolt semi float rear axle. They can be found with the proper 6 lug wheel bolt pattern to match your front 10b. It is a much stronger axle and will hold up to plenty of abuse in the sand. The leaf spring perches will need to be relocated on the axle tubes to fit your K5 but overall is the perfect width to match the front. I think this info was mentioned in your 6 lug/8 lug thread.

I rock a built 10b front.
It hasn't failed me yet.

I do carry complete sets of spare u joints and axle shafts...
but, who doesn't?

Fwiw, the day I break the 10b, I'm D60 shopping.
I already have D60 parts waiting in the garage.
