If your truck is a crew cab you can go with a 94-98.5 (newer the better) engine and 2wd NV4500 tranny into a divorced 205, this is what I would do cause you will get to keep a 205 but get the "better" engine and tranny, and better driveshaft angles, if you dont want a divorced case then you are going to have to do one of two things....use a newer engine (94+) with the older Getrag 5 speed/205 combo or use the older (93-91.5) engine with the Getrag 5 speed/205...The 93-91.5 engines are good engines, I have one with 150K on it and a non-intercooled 89-91.5 with 220K+ on it, I also have a 96 with 220K+ on it...They will make decent power (300-350) reliably on a decent budget with the proper pump tuning, turbo, and upgrades...and it costs 250 bucks to rebuild the injection pump at most shops, p-pumps run over 400 bucks easily...I left out the 89-91.5 engines because they arent intercooled and I wouldnt recommend using one for what you are doing because you will really need a intercooled engine...Just remember you dont have to have much horsepower with these trucks as a stock 160 horsepower engine makes 400 ft-lbs of torque at the crank...so think about when you double that power to 300+...
