14 bolt disc brakes issues....

The kits are all designed to use the front 4WD rotors and calipers, so no, the 2WD parts are different.

2wd calipers are the same as 4wd ones. They also interchange between 1/2 and 3/4.

on my way back from "Saturday Date Night" with the ol lady I picked up some 76 K20 calipers.... they fit perfect..... heck the impala brake pads even fit perfect..... just need a couple $2 banjo bolts now and I will be ready to go..... or should I say STOP.?.?.?.?....

Mmm. The *rotors* are different, at the very least, so at worst I'm guilty of over-generalizing for the OP.

The 1/2 and 3/4 calipers are the same physical size, yes, but the 3/4's have a larger piston, which may or may not be a good thing... this gets into a lengthy discussion about hydraulics which has been done before. At the very least they are not identical.

I have no first-hand knowledge of the 2WD 1/2 and 3/4 ton calipers, but they are a different part # than the 4WD's, just as the 4WD 3/4's are different from the 4WD 1/2's.

My point was that the kits are set up for the 4WD 3/4 calipers, so if the OP is gonna go out and get parts, those are the ones to get.

Should someone have some other kind laying around they may or may not work, but that's a separate issue ;)

DAD... GUM...... if it is not one thing it is ANOTHER...... now I can't get a BANJO BOLT........ Advanced Auto (who knows if they can get any thing right) says they have them just have to order..... Napa - too old can't get um.... Car Quest - same thing... too old can't get um.... my local GM Stealership says the part is discontinued but some place is washington state has them for like $15 each.... guess I will have to junk yard them or something... any ideas?

These guys have them. I got my braided lines done there and got banjos while I was at it. Dunno if that is you least expensive option though. I'm sure summit has them as well, but they have like an $8 handling fee.

What size do you need -- 3/8" or whatever the metric is, 10mm or thereabouts?

Well I think I have metric banjo bolts.... the caprice calipers I have are 94-96 model..... the calipers I have are 76.... which I think are standard... I kick my self in the a$$ for not getting say... 87 or 88 or some other "newer" 3/4 ton calipers that are metric bolted... guy at car quest looked up a 87 3/4 ton 4x4 and had that bolt... it was metric ...... If I can't find two dang standard banjo bolts at my junk yard I may just go buy 86-87-88 or something there abouts caliper and trade my newly purchased 76 caliper in.... or "force" the metric banjo bolt in and hope it doesn't leak..... :(

Take your new calipers back & exchange them for '78-up calipers for 3/4t those should be 10mm.

I already took the "cores" back in the original boxes the 76 calipers came in :(.... wonder how I could get around that?.?.?.?.

Don't force the bolts. Bad things will happen ;)

If you can't find any locally, post up ... someone can prolly find you a set. (I should have a set of the 3/8"s somewhere, though it'd take a few days to mail 'em to ya.)

ok here is the deal... (as I know it be be right now).... I am going to the junk yard to see if I can find a couple... my junk yard guy will give me some if he has any... if that doesn't work... go buy 78+ like johnnychimpo says... go back the next day with the 76 calipers in the 78+box and say I didn't need um... dishonest?.?.?. yea... but I will find a couple in the junk yard I know... the 70ish olds I got the A6 compressor off of has standard thread banjo bolts for sure (if it had disc brakes :doah:)....... but it is just a pain to keep searchin.... which gets me back to why has someone not done a write up for what caliper to use.... what brake line to use (junk yard finds or "new lines that fit just right for the right price).... and how to get the jamb nut off the 14 bolt spindle... then the 14 bolt bearing nut off... how much to torque them down.?.?.?.... luckly from back in my toyota days I knew to use a flat blade screw driver and hammer to get them on and off... and how to spin the rotor to "check" bearing preload...... we have every thing else here.....
