I got that big honking snap ring out, which was exciting in and of itself.

I gather the outer bearing is supposed to just pop down/in through the hub towards the inner side where the seal is, but mine doesn't want to go.

It seems like there's something also holding the bearing in place, specifically its race. I didn't want to go hammering on stuff blindly and even after repeated cleanings, it's still kinda murky in there for me to see if there's another fastener or something. I didn't see anything in the 14 Bolt Bible.

Any ideas? Exploded diagrams of the hub?

right, 1st drive the race towards the outer part of the hub, then after removing that snap ring the race has to be driven out towards the inside of the hub...when assy it gets driven it to the outer part of the hub, the snap ring installed, then driven back against the snap ring.
