I went to the tire place, and they said the tires won't ever be balanced due to the width of the tires being to wide for the rims. Anybody out there running this tire/rim combo, how's it working out for ya? Also, I am planning to get the speedo recalibrated for the tire size (at the dealership), has anybody out there had difficulty with a warranty claim due to putting on larger than stock tires? The dealer says it won't cause a problem but, you now how they'll say whatever it takes to make a sale sometimes...(no offense meant to dealership guys out there, I used to work at one). Thanks for info!![]()
I worked at a tire shop where people would always ask us to mount 285's on the stock wheels. it pinches them to much and crowns the tread. it will ride terrible and feel unstable compared to a wider wheel.
When I put 305's on my 1500 the dealership wouldn't warranty the idler and pitman arm that wore out under 30K miles. I had only had the tires on for 10K miles.
Now I work at a dealership and they still won't warranty something that was effected by a non stock component. the tires do not completely void the warranty, just the parts they have an effect over like hub assemblies.
I will never lift an IFS truck again. they are not designed for big tires. I have friends that also own lifted IFS trucks and they all have the same issues as me. idler and pitman arms, hub assemblies, balljoints.
Other than that, the truck is awesome! It looks and rides great (esp. with the new tires), sounds great (gotta love the sound of the turbo spooling up!), and hauls some serious rearend! Now all I need is Rhino-lining and a tool box. Oh, also, I was wondering if y'all think it is necessary to recalibrate the computer for the 265's (it came with 245's), would it be necessary? Thanks!
