15x8 wheel backspacing for 1988 Blazer 3.5 or 2.75

/forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif I have a 1988 k5 Blazer and have 15x12 inch alloy wheels with 3.625 back spacing on it right now. I am replacing them with a steel wheel from Pro Comp, Rock Crawler series. The backspacing they told me would work is really close to my Tie Rod, about .375 in. from the wheel bead. The new Wheels are 15x8 with a 3.75 back spacing. The Pro Comp factory said they could make a wheel at 3.5 back spacing. Or go to a 2.75 back spacing. I running 35 x 12.5 x 15 BFG's AT. I don't want to run into problems with stress on the wheel bearings and hub with the 2.75 backspacing like I did with the 15x12. Does anyone have any suggestions on what backspacing to go with 3.5 or 2.75.

I've been running the 2.75 backspacing for a long time and never had any problems. I like the way thwe tires stick out too...

Problem is that I aready bought the 15x8 with 3.75 backspacing. From 4wheelsparts.com got a great deal for a set of 5. They are willing to exchange them for different backspaced wheels and pick up shipping cost, so I need to know what to ask for this time. Do you think the 2.75 would be good or 3.5 be better. Keep in mind I have a 15x12 wheel w/3.625 back spacing currently on the 88 Blazer.
 
Six or Eight lug ? I like the original Ralley wheel backspacing with a 12.5 inch wide tire . When I go 35's from my current 33's , I am keeping the stock wheels once again . Works great and looks good too /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif
 
Get your money back if you can , or get a locker instead . I have a set of ralleys if you need some , and if your in AZ . If not oh well , they will sit /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif
 
Can anyone just tell me what looks the best and works the best with 35x12.5x15's the 3.5 or 2.75 backspacing on a 15x8. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif What are the ralleys your talking about?
 
3.5 will tuck the tires in better and work better in my opinion.

Ralleys are the stock wheels.

What's wrong with the wheels you have now?
 
15 x 8 6 lug Argent silver rims . I got another set so I can have spares in case I damaged mine . I traded some hub fuses ( 3 sets ) for them ( Jay I will be by soon ) . They need trim rings , but would look good any color you painted them . 50.00 for 5 . My pics in my sig show these wheels /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif
 
The wheels I have now are 12 inches wide on a 15 inch wheel. I just don't like them. There to wide for the tires I'm running 35x12.5x15. I also put a lot of stress on my wheel bearings and wore out one hub in the front. they rub on rocks and are not the best for holding a bead. Just want a cheap black steel wheel that will work well and not wear and tear front end and rub rocks.
 
i have a set of 4 black 6 lug from us wheel they are 15x8 im unshure what the backspacing are but i will sell them for cheap if u want them. i have no use for 6 lug stuff.

Then these will work wonders for you . I 12.5 inch wide on these 15 x 8 rims . I run 20 psi in them and never popped a bead , some guys have run them lower . Going to a 8 inch wide rim will protect the bead better , and the tire will be a little taller as it won't roll around the edges . If you want them PM me , if not oh well . But for what you want , stick close to stock backspacing , and run a 8 inch wide rim /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif
 
Oh ok, i thought you had the 3.73 15x8s and didn't like them. Those would have been perfect.

I have 10" wheels and 16" wide tires. I've run 11 PSI in all four tires off road everywhere....never lost a bead. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
