I have determined I will need a 16X7 rim with about 3.5 inches of back spacing, with of course 6X139/6X5.5 bolt pattern.

Since this is a WarWagon, and Im dirt broke... I thought maybe... just maybe... theres another vehicle that used STEEL rims I could hunt the junk yards for to mount some 16 inch tires on.

Ive seen some of the CUCV pix showing 16" tires, and the rims look like "old school steel pickup type rims", which... sadly... would suit me fine.

Any insight... Please respond!

Many thanks,
Andrew

PS
Anything in this list look doable?

Okay, good... this is the kind of feedback I need.. about the backspacing and center hole.

Im reading some of the CUCVs with 1 ton axles had 16" rims???

http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=243275

Maybe, there is something in there that would help me out? What year/make civilian truck would be the "same" then?

Thanks much!

factory 73-91 solid axle was 15" unless super rare 16.5 6 lug.

and 3/4 ton - 1ton = 16" or 16.5 and all 8 lug.

m1008 = 1ton truck

m1009 = 1/2 ton blazer.

Okay, I got it.. was 8 lug then.

So I reckon Im back to 70 series white spokes, which aint bad... I was just looking for something $150 (for a set of 4 steelies) or less from the junk yard that would work out fine.

Thanks for your help!

you want stock gm orignal look ?

if so get d-window rims and paint white.

then 24 7/16 conversion lug nuts for 88-up style with external threads .

then 4 center caps and plastic nut covers for 88-up body style.

thats what i did. but 8 lug.

here is pic of stock 6 lug wagons from late 70's blazer. and my 8 lug version. mine are 16" x 10" wide 8x6.5 pattern.

you could do a 16" x what you want and 6x5.5 pattern.

Lemme post this question:
Is there ANY steel rim from ANY vehicle that would do what I want? I dont care if they are Toyota, Dodge or Mitsubishi rims (etc etc), just so long as I can cabbage them from the junk yard and will allow 16" tires to be run. Im looking for as close to factory specs as I can (see first post in this thread).

Thanks-
Andrew

( 0 ) offset = centered.

and i think some newer base model toyotas have steel 16" just dont know backspace or hub hole dia .

Random but I like www.SummitRacing.com for seeing what's out there in wheels.

I got the black steelie 16x7 I have my spare on from them. Has the correct 3.5" backspacing as well.

3.5" backspacing on a 7" wide rim is centered or (0) backspacing, as what is sometimes shown on some wheel websites, just FYI for someone that may need that tidbit.

The variety and availability of 15 inch tires is greatly diminished, with 16 inch tires the price is typically lower and variety is much greater, at least that is my observations.

Why limit your selection to a 7" wide wheel? I got my 15x8 6 lug white waggys from Summit for $42 each shipped. They have 3.75" bs and fit perfect. 33x12.5x15 tires are everywhere and at decent prices. I haven't looked for 35s for a 15" wheel though. Which begs the question, what size tires are you looking for?

And to answer your question, most everything with a 6 lug and 16" wheel will either not have a large enough center hole or the wrong backspacing or both. Stock Toyota 16" wheels (steel or alloy) the bs is biased to the outside of the wheel.

Id entertain an 8" wheel... either 7 or 8, but no wider and no more narrow.

I can get Primewell PA 100 for $160 each in 285/75R16, and a LOT MORE, in LOTS OF SIZES for 16 inch rims.

Thats my objective anyway...

If 285's were all you were going to be running I'd almost say go with the 7's. However if you want to go wider at any time go with the 7's.
I have 16x8's and even with the 265/75R16s I have now they work okay. However I know that if I ever get a deal on fatter tires I can run them easily.
