17 Ram 3500 DD minor upgrades

It is mine. Everything works and it is clean. Has not been detailed and wont be.

We went $24k, plus sales tax and the $87 license fee. Will pick it up tomorrow.

Bed will have to be pulled for some bracket changes. I will add a hitch and do something different for the back bumper.

Brought it home today. My legs are too short to get in and out gracefully.

Biggest issue is, it won't fit in the garage. Mirrors are to wide.

The idiot who installed the bed shimmied it with 2x4s, yes, wood ones.

Can't put gas in it because the hose has a low spot in it.

Going to pull the bed, fix the mounts correctly, fix the fuel fill line. Build a new back bumper and hitch receiver.

Have to get the Jimmy done first.

lots of body companys still do wood shims .

did you flip the HI I AM A DODGE mirrors down to just regular mirrors ?

yes dumb arsses forget we need to fill the fuel tank now and then . . .

cant wait to see new custom bumper and hitch .

I turned one mirror up and sent the picture to my brother. Got a puke emoji back.

The mirrors will never be standing up unless I am pulling an 8.5' wide box trailer.

the only times I flip mine up is when I have the cabover camper in the bed.

And that makes sense.

I asked one bro-dozer guy if the mirrors were flipped up so he would not run his tires along a block wall? He just had a dumb look on his face and walked away. We were laughing.

Finally put this thing on the road. I know, who buys a new truck and doesn't drive it? Me. Could not fill it with gas. Fixed that issue.

I have decided that only tall people should own a Ram truck. I almost can not reach the door handle to pull the door closed. Need to dislocate my left shoulder to reach the seat belt.

I knew a guy R.I.P passed away now who fabbed up some simple parts and lowered his f-350 4x4 around 2 to 3 inch . Ran it till he died . Towed a big 5th wheel camper all over .

Look it over and see if you can lower it a bit real easy .

We had a brand new 2500 Ram in the shop to be lettered last week. When I moved it in I was wondering how the hell anyone want to get in out of it every day. Definitely needs some sort of step. Then I couldn't get used the dial shifter for the transmission. It's just weird not to move some sort of lever, but to turn a dial like you're tuning the stereo.

It is not so much the truck height, it is the position of stuff from the drivers seat. They were not designed for gnomes.
Even us tall people have issues with the seat belt on those single cab rams , it’s mounted different on the crew cabs , no issues with those it’s kust the cab on that style truck .

You mind posting the door sticker - weight capacities?

Was this a pickup that was converted or a cab chassis originally?

It will tow your rig fine. The 5.7 in that truck is rated at 383 HP and 400 Ft-Lbs of torque. A buddy of mine pulled an F-250 with tons, big-block, and 42's all over the place with an older generation Dodge 2500 5.7 that was rated at 345 HP. I had a Chevy 2500HD 6.0L truck rated at 300 HP/360 Ft-Lbs at that time towing my 1 ton K5 that was the same weight. When towing down the freeway to trails we ran side by side up some mild to moderate grades a few times and he would walk away from me. My current truck is a 2016 Ram 2500 with the 6.4 gas engine but haven't had a chance to tow the K5 with it yet, only smaller loads like my SxS.
