17 Ram 3500 DD minor upgrades

How much do you want to pick up w/ that? That's a lot of potential torque. Maybe add a flip down leg?
250 pounds at the most. Anything over 80 pounds is too much for me know. The jack I needed to load is 100 pounds. Not going to be load engines or anything like that.

My fathers day gift I gave to myself.

Now that you've installed a set, do you think those could be adapted to something like my crew cab? I've always thought it would be possible, but they're kinda spendy to buy on a chance. It would be really cool to tuck those behind a set of sliders.

Yes. The hinges (brackets) can be installed anywhere along the running board. Custom mounts would need to be made. If I can not get the 48 low enough, it will get a set. For my standard cap I had to cut 29" off of the running boards. That was a tough cut to make with the cost of them. I bet I measured 10 times, even though the instructions gave me the length to cut for my truck.

The thing I would be concerned about is, that one rock sticking up that the slider did not land on.

Do you see salt down there at all Wade? I'm sure you noticed this, but the motors are not the best sealed things out there. We would get a few back a year that the brine/salt and stuff they put on the roads up here would lock up.

Very rarely they will salt the roads. Once in the 2 years we have been here. If it is that bad, I stay home.

I am looking for a way to seal up the motor. There is road mud splashed into that area on the frame and the rocker. I was thinking about shrink tubing to wrap it.

My wife’s parents had them installed on their truck... we have that truck now. Those are great!

They have been on for eight years now with our roads, salt, calcium, gravel, mud, snow slush,-30c weather. Never had much trouble with them, other then they like to have the pivot points oiled often or the squeak.

Nothing has been done to seal the motors. But it’s not a bad idea.

Actually there is one thing with them on our truck the steps don’t go up tight to the body anymore, give them a tap with your foot and they do. Of course you can’t do that unless your outside of the truck.
It’s not that bad, about a inch or so away.

Maybe they need to be adjusted but I haven’t seen anywhere on how to do it?

There aren't any adjustments on mine. The drivers side hooked on the pinch weld the first time it went up. I forgot to do the custom adjustment on that side. Install and bounce on them before installing the motor. Was able to pry it free and bounce on it. No more issues.

I haven’t seen anything to adjust either. Maybe they are just getting week. They have been used a lot so no complaints.

I'm not sure how the open and closed limits work. No settings. No special way to install the motors. I assume the controller has power load limits set or something.

We had to cut the pinch weld on all the Rams we installed them on. Or tweak the bracket.

I was really stressing towing with this truck. After 25 hours of windshield time, I'm impressed with the way it actually works. Nothing like my semi, or the Duramax. But for what it, is it works well.

The fuel efficiency is a little mind boggling. 3 tanks at mid 9s. 2 tanks at mid 8s. One at 8 with a head wind. Last tank, through the steepest and longest hills, 2nd gear at 3500rpm and 55 mph, got 11.4mpg. Should have been one of the worst in my mind. Checked to see if I put premium in it. Nope.

Coolant temp hit 221 once at the top of the longest/steepest pull. Transmission ran between 170 and 175. I bet it has changed gears 500 plus times.
