Hi everyone,

I´m in the process of talking to Hutchinson about some 18" double bead lock wheels. The 17" ones they have don´t fit over my big brakes. They told me that unless I don´t get more than 25 wheels made, the forging company wouldn´t do it.

So now I´m trying to see if anybody here would be interested in a set of these wheels.

Specs: 18x8.5", 4.75" backspacing, 0" offset, 8x6.5" BCD, double bead lock, forged, DOT approved, 8 spoke design, weight ~33.5 lbs per wheel, load rating 3200 lbs.

Please let me know if there is some interest, so that I might be able to get this wheel built!

Thanks!

Well, they didn´t give me a price on the 25 wheel quantity yet. They just told me that if they would make only 5, they´d have to be machined and would cost about 2K per wheel. But a machined wheel is not what I wanted. But assuming the 25 wheels would come together, I would guess about $800 to $1000 per wheel.

These are very light though for a bead lock wheel and they fit very large brakes. I´m running F550 brakes on mine and the have a total diameter (including caliper) of more than 16".

I can´t show the design, it is kind of secret, but it looks awesome!

Of course, the more people we get together, the cheaper the wheel will get!

Thanks for replying!

Too much for us poor folk. Try the guys at Pirate.

I looked into these years ago. Didn't like that they made the rims to your spicific tire and said once they made them you could ONLY run THAT tire with them. LAME. I passed and ran something else instead.

Tell me more about your brake setup F/R and what axles you're on. I'm very interested in upping the brakes on my K10.

Please!

Okay so you want someone to pay $1000 a wheel for a design you can't show us cause its secret?

Anyhow hutchisons are awesome wheels. Too rich for my blood. I hope u can get enough peeps in so we can see them.

I too am interested in seeing your brake set up. All the 550's I've seen are the big 8 lug pattern. How about some details & pics.

Kinda what I was thinking while reading all this, this thread just makes me scratch my head. :dunno:

yeah because i'm going to drop a grand a wheel to someone who has 3 posts. How about you get hutchinson to chime in on this whole thing?

Word.

For a 3-poster, he almost sounds like a troll or scammer.

Why would it be spam??? Crazy for thinking anyone is going to want these besides him, yes, but spam, no.

Front is a Dynatrac Pro Series D60 with F550 outers and complete F550 brake package. The rotors have been redrilled to the 8x6.5" BCD.

the rear is a FF 14 bolt van width axle with custom brakets and Dodge 3500 brake rotors and calipers. the hubs need to be turned down 1/16" to make the rotor slide over the hub. Both front and back are now the slide on rotors....

Front is 14.54" rotor, rear 13.88". These are huge, the OEM rear parking brake is also hooked up.

But you need at least an 18" wheel to fit!

Well, I have to get the OK from Hutchinson to show the wheel design... I can´t just do it without getting their permission....

As to the brakes: The ´03 F550 rotors have the 8x170mm BCD and can be redrilled to the 8x6.5" BCD, that´s what I did.
The rest is all ó8 stuff front and back!

smells like spam to me.

why would it be span, just cause I´m trying to get interest for wheels that I want but can´t get until I get at least 25 of them built??? If I´d win the lottery, I´d just buy 25 myself, but since that won´t happen any time soon, asking here was my other option.....

I tried CK5 and 67-72chevtrucks.com before and they all told me to come here, since my chances would be greater....

So no scam, just trying to get my wheels made!

I might also look into getting the wheel made in 20" diameter if people would be more interested in that size due to more tire choice.

Then you need to get hutchinson on here to verify that this is the procedure to getting wheels made.

BTW why not just get a set of stazworks and call it a night? Cheaper and more well know.

Stazworks are steel as far as I know, way too heavy! I want a beadlock that is not much heavier than a normal wheel! Plus they are not DOT approved, and the truck needs to stay street legal...

i can ask Hutchinson to verify this here, but I doubt they will.. They pretty much leave it up to me to find enough people. But if someone is interested, I can give you the email address of the guy at Hutchinson for verification....

Do you know how many people run non DOT beadlocks in this sport? A literal **** ton, nothing ever happens to them? why does yours need to be DOT?
