Out of town for a few months so no real updates. Before I left I finished up most of the wiring harnesses. I have the rear body, front body, and engine harness done. Now I’ll just make a dash harness that ties them all together with the in cab stuff.
I also scored this mint warn 8274 yesterday for it.

Bought some cheap tools at harbor freight to pull the winch apart so I could get the drum separated. Two 50lb boxes is better than one 100lb box according to the airline. This thing is damn clean inside.
You probably already know those run 30wt non detergent oil.
I have 2 8274's. One of mine is the 70th anniversary 10k models. They only made 1000 of.
Anyway, that will look awesome on the MB. That vintage warn sticker in there is nice.

TSA must have thought I was smuggling drugs because the ransacked all my luggage. But I got the winch home along with a Motobilt mount. Now to sell this cable for a few bucks and buy some synthetic.

Swapped out transfer case yokes for 1310 CVs and ordered drive shafts from Tom Woods today. This should be my last big purchase to make it drive. After this is just axle and transfer case gears but I don’t need those to mall crawl.
Are you going to drive it on the road? Are the headlights legal for that?

Best thing about having a vehicle this old, it’s exempt from all of those pesky safety laws. Hell it doesn’t even have a vin number. Almost nothing is required to make it street legal. No brake lights no turn signals and so on.
with that being said, it’s day time like 20 plus hours a day here in the summer. I sure as hell am not driving this in the winter. So no real need for actual head lights. Not until I get back to the lower 48

Well that’s done. I’ll finish welding it once I strip it down to bare frame. This is one of those little things that give you the motivation to do all the boring stuff you have been putting off.

Got my driveshafts in the mail today. I guess you could say things are getting pretty serious. I also scored this mint fair lead on eBay for $20. Things are coming together. I’m trying to get at least one thing done a day. I’m pretty close to tearing it all the way down so I can flip the cab and frame to finish welding the bottom sides.
Going to leave it like that?

The body will go back on eventually... haha The engine location is a comporomise of front driveshaft clearance and having enough room in the foot well for a throttle pedal.
