so i'm starting a new build that i didn't really plan on doing but keep falling into cheap deals on parts so i figure why not:D

it all started when i found a complete front Chevy Dana 60 on craigslist for only $600 only a couple hours from where i live

the morning i brought the old truck bed denter home:whistle: it was loaded with a tractor that couldn't lift quite high enough,
a buddy of mine, and myself and once in the bed it shifted and put a nice dent in the inner fender of the bed

i'm going to machine down the dually hubs rather than buy single wheel hubs

then i picked up a Dana 70hd rear out of a Ford i think, for $100, it has matching 4.10s and a welded carrier:waytogo:

I need to swap out the left hand wheel studs though for some righties and probably do a disc conversion

also a fuel cell came with it in the bed box and it already had chevy 63" rear spring mounts installed

I was all interested until I say the pic of the Toyota cab... Thanks for not keeping it.

What do you have in mind for the rest of the powertrain?

the powertrain will be all GM a 350, probably a th400 or 350 depending on what i can get for cheap,
and more than likely the transfer case that will already be attached to either of those

and a teaser for the cab, the theme is going to be a "ratrod wheeler"

so here's the super secret cab I'll be using

it's an early 40's Ford pickup that had been sitting on my family's ranch near Booneville, CA since the early 60's

nobody could really say when, how, or why it ended up where it was but my mom's cousin who lives up there
most of the time thinks he remembers it being used to store firewood and that they used to play in it as kids as well

it was just off the road and up a short hill and really in decent shape for how long it's been sitting, the only major issue
is the back of the cab where it meets the floor is rusted through from dirt and leaves settling there and holding water

Sweeeeeeeet.

This thing's going to have all sorts of confudled DNA.

Should try and keep it as low slung as possible, like a 4400 truck. would look sick with a chop. And lean the grill back.

I like your idea with this thing.

I say throw some axles in there and run it like that. Ground clearance will suck but it would look :pimp::pimp:

i was doing some debris removal in the doors and other areas of the tub and out crawled these two :eek1:

i've already been killing the many spiders but didn't ever expect scorpions, i figured it's too cold and wet up where this was at, but guess not

garage pets now:D

Awesome! A friend of mine just sold a 51 ford f1 cab and I had the exact same thoughts in my head.

made some progress on the build this weekend, removed the Toyota cab from the frame and got it ready for the scrap yard, then mocked up the Ford cab on the frame

even though the proportions aren't all quite right, I really don't think it looks all that bad and it will be quite a bit lower on the frame when mounted
