1948 Ford F1 budget resto-mod build

There was a rig in a 4x4 mag I saw that had an old school body on it, looked sick, this is gonna be AWESOME!!!!:D
 
Wade, Ktmoutfront, had a sweet old chevy on a built chassis.

i was hoping he would chime in and show off his rig sometime
 
take a few inches out of that roof and it'll be even sicker......
 
Thanks guys, & im definitely raising the floor as a means of lowering the overall height, basically a body drop to also give more tunnel clearance for the drivetrain. A chop is definitely NOT out of the question though. I'm hoping to have it a roller over the xmas/new year holiday.
 
got some work done on the suspension this weekend, mostly the rear and some mock-up on the front

i think i need to rotate the rear pinion angle up a little more with the perches before final weld, i set it at 10* but still looks a little low

i also picked up some free 56" rear chevy springs for the front from a friend so the wheelbase is going to be somewhere around 110"

did some work today and picked up a 205 off a th400 from the pick n pull because i didn't plan on keeping
the 203 that came with the drivetrain combo,

soooo now i'm even thinking a doubler since i have all the components sitting in the garage:whistle:

so have a few small updates for this:

got my wheels finally and had the set mounted


next will probably be starting on the cab repair, raising the floor pan and fitting it around the toyota frame and creating a drivetrain tunnel to keep the cab low and the drivetrain between the framerails...oh and a chop:pimp:

thanks! and a small update, got one hub turned down at school tonight next one will be done Monday,
then need to drill out the threaded rotor holes to accept standard press in wheel lugs, i'll have a pic tomorrow of the turned hub
 
here's the first hub all turned down, i basically did a minimal cleanup to what would fit through the wheel bore, so i wouldn't
take off too much or undercut the weld and about 90% cleanup on the new wheel surface which took about .100" off

the mismatched turned surfaces are a result of how out of round the forging is and excess material, not because i indicated it improperly
i used the face where the lockout seals against and the hub bore just passed that surface to indicate to

...through the wheel...



...and mocked up with the rotor and lockout

hey man. if you wanna do a second set of those dually hubs i'd be super interested...
i've got my dually hubs holding my garage floor from floating away...


do you still have the 93? this one is gonna be nuts too

Ive never heard of converting dually hubs. What machine did you use?
