I was doom scrolling Thursday night and happened upon an ad for this 1950 CJ3A.

I offered him the Yamaha Kodiak 400 I've been working on and he accepted so we headed over and grabbed it today.

The frame is in great shape, motor is in the bed. I'm not gonna do much to it this summer, I've got a bunch of other projects going on but I hope to gather some parts and hopefully get an engine together for it to be driving it next spring.

Dude! I had a line on one a couple years ago that ended up not working out, but man I’d love to build one some day!

Great score dude!

I'd like to find something like that to run around local trails. They're all too easy for the crew cab. The local club I'm in is full of new jeeps and I'd love to show up in an old school jeep. Although I've thought it would be even more fun to find one of the Ford built versions.

I’d love to find one of those and put some cheap lockers (maybe even limited slips) and Buckshots on it to screw around in.

I've been wanting one since I was a little kid.

This was just a long shot offer and it worked out.

I've got a lot of parts hunting to do this summer. The basics are there but a lot of the small parts are gone, as well as the wiring.

My dad had an M38. I had told him several times that I would be interested in it. it sat for years after the water pump went out. I told him several times I would work on it, for some reason he just didn't care and let it sit. he had bought a 1977 CJ5 Levi's edition and I had taken him my 2004 LJ back around 2015 that he had for a couple of years. one day he called me up and was all proud of himself because he had sold the M38 for $1000. he also had my grandmother's 1977 C10 that I tried to buy and he sold. as well as a Jeep J10 Honcho that I tried to buy and he sold to someone else.

I never brought it up before he died but sometimes I wanted to ask him if he just didn't like me.

My dad is a lot like that. I think it's that he doesn't see the value in them and thought he was helping you by getting rid of them so you didn't have to deal with it.

My Dad also REFUSES to buy what he wants if it costs even a few cents more than the bare bones base version of something then HATES what he bought for the whole time he has it.

Anybody remember Shawn…something like supersize74k5 on here back in the 00’s? He’s big into flat fenders now.

There was a guy in my hometown had a flattie pretty stealthily modded. All I remember from my dumb ternage years was a swapped in GM engine (I bet a V6?), granny low 4 speed, locked Dana 44’s, low lift (maybe a spring over?) and bigger NDT’s although I heard it eventually got Swampers. Whole thing was OD green.

I follow Sean on IG. He's always out bashing his around. That's another part of what had me looking. It looks like too much fun.

Unloaded the Willys this evening. After lifting the engine out of the bed, I found out the tub isn't attached to the body in any way. The only thing that held it on yesterday during the drive home was the weight of the engine. Woops.....
