1951 Willys wagon - Dads toy It Runs and Drives now !!!

Found some starting pics of the wagon , see posts 1&2.

Also got a front drivshaft and ended up having to do a sye on the 241, it should be here this week. No new pics right now :(

This is a cool shot for sure!!

I'm with ya on that one Josh....I have gathered so much information and courage to try things from being here, it still amazes me at times!

I really like this shot for some reason....great work man!

Interesting to see the shackles on the front of the springs.
Wife's PW is like that for now. (until we do the links and coil-overs.)

After some measuring it was determined there was no way the rear driveshaft was going to work due to length and angles :doah: so a quick call to JB conversions solved that :D

241 super short hd kit, I must say this install could not have been easier, even after I realized I forgot to put the snap ring back on the front output and had to take it apart, clean off the gasket goo and re install it all :doah: :haha:it still only took an hour total :pimp:

Ended up gaining 9"s of d shaft lengh which dropped about 14* out of the operating angle :waytogo:

More progress :woot:

Crossover steering done :D

1.25" x .250 DOM, ruffstuff ends, Sky steering arm and GM TRE's. This is full droop , at ride height the drag link is within a degree of being parallel.

Also got the fuel tank mounted, the original was not in good shape so dad ordered a poly 18 gallon replacement, the quality is fair, of course new mounts had to made :doah: as the originals were long rusted away. Plus for some reason the factory tank sat right against the passenger side frame rail, and about 9" away from the drivers side. It is now just about centered (1" closer to d side) as I plan on a single 3" tail pipe exiting on the pass side.

The front axel is a Dana 44 that was sourced from a 1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer

Looks good! :waytogo:

What front axle is that? Are jeeps Driver side?

Like my brother said, it's originally from his Wagoneer, he now has a Dodge 60 in his. Although it's from a Jeep, it is a 6x5.5 bolt pattern, uses the regular GM rotors, pads and calipers but is drivers side drop, originally set up for spring under and about ~6"s narrower then a GM d44. IIRC WMS on this axle is around 60" or so........I think :doah: :D
Another note on the front, after we swapped in the rear 44, from a rodeo it dawned on us that the rear used metric lug nuts and the front used standard:doah:. Long story short I found that solid axle Toyotas used a wheel stud that was almost identical to GMs but in 12mm thread. I had to take about a 32nd out of the stud holes in the hubs, but now we have matching lug nuts all the way around :waytogo:

This thing is sweet:thumb: you should drag this and your dad out in July with it:whistle:

Thanks

In dont see dad making that trip, I am pushing my brother to get his rig ready or at least to come along with his bike :D

what steering box does it have? I need to get rid of the POS Ross system on my Jeepster, and put a 30 in front w/ discs as well.

Im running the factory box from my brothers 89 wagoneer. It is a 4 bolt inside the frame setup and apparently has the same bolt pattern minus 1 as the mini round body blazers. My brother swapped in a box from one of those as the ratio is different :dunno: and thats what FSJ (fullsize jeep) guys do. It really looks just like our boxes, except it goes inside the frame and xj shafts bolt right up also.

Quit dicking around online and get that ****ing klim done. Btw, thanks for the Amex card :)

thanks Josh....I'll keep that in mind for future upgrades to the Jeepster!
